Celtics. Too good at D, and too clutch for any other team. They'll beat the Bulls in the ECF.

Who's the best in the East? Maybe it's the Bulls, maybe it's the Celtics. I don't know. What I do know, it's not the Heat.

They could be if they stop letting Lebron take the last shot. Is there anyone less clutch than LeBum?

Bulls or Celtics easy. I would take the Bulls after the Perkins trade.

My buddy and I were just saying that last night. Like, "At what point did Wade stop taking the clutch shots for the Heat?"

Miami is 14-15 against teams with a .500 record or better. They are 0-3 against the Celtics, and 0-2 against the Bulls...

Miami is also 29-2 against teams below a .500 record. Watching Miami lose in the playoffs will be fun.

I don't like that Perkins trade in the short term. IMO it will be somebody other than the Celtics.

Before the trade deadline I would have said Boston had a great chance. Now I think it's wide open. Miami will be tough to beat in a playoff series, especially with the amount of calls Wade and LeBron get late in games. Plus it sounds like they will try to sign Mike Bibby after he is bought out. Bibby is old but he's better than Chalmers.

The Bulls are very interesting to me. I wish they had a little more at the SG spot. I don't trust Orlando much in big games. Arenas isn't Agent Zero anymore and Dwight Howard is more interested in being an entertainer than he is winning championships. Boston v Chicago would be great. I definitely wouldn't want to face the Knicks in the first round, though.

The Bulls need a SG. Other than that I think they have a very solid roster. Coach T has them playing very well, and they haven't had their starting 5 healthy for more than 10 games or so this year. Booz and Noah will be physical which is key in they playoffs. Rose is a straight-faced assasin. He should be MVP because without him the Bulls are their typical 8-seed. I give them a slight nod over the Celtics, only because of the Perkins/Robinson deal.
NY really looked good last night and are a serious contender.
All-in-all, the East should make for some long and bruising matchups.

Yesterday was the first time I have ever rooted for the NY Knicks, and it had nothing to do with them. I just dislike the Miami Heat that much. LeBron's left-handed alley oop dunk was nice, though.

I just don't think that Perkins trade effects Boston until they get to the finals (if they play the Lakers). It's not like Noah will be outscoring the Celtics. He gets his points off hustle, and I think Shaq is just big enough to wear him out. Shaq is also the anti-Howard since he's basically the only guy Dwight can't bully around.

Looks like a lot of people are over reacting to the Perkins trade, unless you all assume the Celtics are going to lose to Orlando now. If you think Orlando will now beat Boston since they lost one of the only guys in the league who can contain Howard one on one, then that's a valid reason. But there's no reason to think the Bulls or Heat are going to beat Boston just because they traded Perkins.

Perkins has only played in 12 games this year, and the Celtics have done fine without him. He wouldn't be in their crunch time lineup against Chicago or Miami anyway, Garnett and Davis will be in down the stretch. Also, the Celtics desperately needed someone who could give Pierce a breather, Green gives them that guy and makes them more flexible too.

Watched both Around the Horn and PTI on Friday (forget which show it came from) - what was said was all year the Celtics have been saying "We're gonna be fine when we get Perkins back" "We're gonna be fine when we get Perkins back" "We're gonna be fine when we get Perkins back." As soon as they get Perkins back, they trade him away.

They're fine now, but are they going to be fine 2-3 months from now? They HAVE to be the oldest team in the NBA. Yeah, I know, that argument has been made the last several years and yet the Celtics have made 2 of the last 3 NBA Finals, but who's to say that this isn't the year that it finally catches up with them? Just because they have survived the age issue the last several years doesn't mean they're going to continue surviving it. Of course they just might survive it again, But the Celtics didn't really get any younger by trading Perkins away, and because they're the oldest team in the NBA, that little tidbit is going to continue to be brought up.

All I know is that it seems like Rondo takes over in the playoffs. Boston should be considered the big 4

I think the age issue would have been more likely to catch up with them if they don't make the trade. They really had no one to back up Pierce before they made the trade. Pierce is by far their best option to guard LeBron and now Carmelo, they weren't going to win if they had to run him into the ground playing 40 mins a night and defending the other team's best player.
