I think it's interesting that it only took one day for clear channel to bring this up. Maybe if they spent a little more money paying their on-air talent instead of lawyers....

if you had a non-compete with a former employee, how long would you wait to bring it up if they were in violation of the contract?

Perhaps they should just get podcasted daily through Hawkeye Nation & Deace.com to build up a following again, and then shop that around the midwest for a Big 10/Big 12 type audience. With web analytics, they can provide somewhat accurate numbers of listeners/visitors to any potential suitors in the future.

Of course in 6 months, Jon is freed up from his compete clause to be broadcast/replayed locally in DM. Considering they are in no man's land during that time, maybe its best to just market their brand in their own way, and see what happens.

From personal experience employer non-competes are not bullet proof. A good lawyer might be worth the money to see if they really were in violation.

you are right, and it might accomplish a short-term gain they could have anyway by waiting 6 months. What it would probably also do is guarantee your future with clear channel stations.........never say never - one or both may wish to go back someday, and getting attorneys involved isn't something that creates or extends good-will. 6 months can fly by, and they both new about such when they left.

How stupid are they?

Whenever I listened to them on KXNO (not very often), I got the impression that they thought they knew everything and were much more intelligent than their listeners.

They could probably spell knew right. In my opinion, they had the best sports talk show in this area. Im a college football junkie though so thats probably why I liked them so much

I'm sure everything will be alright. Jon will have a couple of execs from the Fellowship of Christian Athletes stop by WHO and have a chat with Van and Joel. Let them know that Jesus wants them to drop the case, and everything will be hunky dory. Maybe Jon could even get a free John Deere riding mower and some suits out of the deal too?
