Although I do follow a lot of weather stuff I am not as in tune to the buzz as some others around here are. Anyway, just saw on twitter that Reed Timmer of Discovery's Stormchasers just tweeted that if he didn't have a Discovery event to do in OK he would be up here in Iowa in a heartbeat. Says he is thinking a "tornado festival".

Reed has a twitter account? I may have to jump on that.

I do see a 10% chance of Tornados today from the national weather service.

Anyone know if Storm Chasers is coming back this fall? I love that show. Reed is pure entertainment

I think he said they start in April on twitter but maybe he was talking about something else.

Quote of the day!!

On the other hand. I love Reed Timmer. Storm Chasers is one of my favorite shows on TV. My daughter who is 5 loves to watch it with me. She has a couple tornado books and she tells everybody that she wants to be a storm chaser when she grows up.

Bring on the Cyclones, oh wait, I mean tornadoes.

I purposely parked my car in a parking garage today On campus I will leave it there over night in case of hail I would rather pay 20 bucks to park overnight than a 1000 dollar deductible on insurance.

I have anxiety lol

Check this out.
75 to 80 in SW Iowa, 57 in DSM. That'll get something going most times.

Iowa Environmental Mesonet

And 36 in SoMN. This is one powerful storm to have a 50 degree change over a matter of 200 miles!

Tornadoes in SW Iowa wouldn't surprise me one bit with the amount of shear. I haven't looked at much for Southern/Central Iowa today because I've been busy with my own weather stuff closer to home (flooding), but if you say it's 75-80 in SW IA the instability should be there.

Things go big boom. If memory serves me right, somewhere near 5pm.

Timmer wasn't lying when he said it could be a tornado festival. If this thing holds together Norwalk is going to be right in the crosshairs.
