Not to be an ***, but as far as I know, those tractors are also sold in the Czech Republic, making it multinational in a way.

Either way, this guy is an idiot, and his argument is terrible, not researched well, and uninformed.
Yeah, but his (cobraclone) point is these aren't coming directly from John Deere's International Headquarters (or Case or whomever), they're on display/loan from a local dealer in the area. Which [theoretically] could actually cause the dealer to lose money because that equipment is sitting on campus and not in their lot, which means it can't be sold at that moment. That could be a big deal now that farmers are starting their fieldwork and might need a replacement tractor within a day if something big breaks down.

I totally agree on your second statement, though.

I haven't been on campus this week because I'm an alum, but I don't recall seeing that much product placement anywhere. Also, he needs to keep in mind that VEISHEA is not only for current student, but alumni as well. And were do most of the alums of our fine university work? Farm/farming companies, including Deere and Cat. Agriculture is one of the main things our university was founded on, and these companies and people are part of what Iowa State is.

I hate stupid people. I understand his point to a degree, but it's an extreme view.

I just wish people would stop finding BS reasons to have something against VEISHA.
Its no different now than what is was back in the early 80's....When VEISHA was nationally prominent.
Every lame azz group has something to gripe about.Leave it be.It is what it is.

I hope certain people are happy for ruining what used to be a great thing for the University and city.

If I wanted to see Ag stuff, I'd go to an Ag school.

There are a lot of great letters that could be written with the title "What has happened to VEISHEA?"

This is not one of them.

This guy is clearly just whining, and I know you're just joking....

but leave it to the hicks of ISU to suggest removing art from campus. Sweet ****-kickers.

Leave it to the hippies and extremists to suggest taking tractors out of a celebration at an ag school..

Next letter needs to be:

"what has happened to picking majors that'll get you a job out of college"

Not all liberals feel this way. I am one, and I never had a problem with the tractors and what-not (also a city kid) during VEISHA. Furthermore, isn't it supposed to be showcasing the newest and best technology in the field? Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if some of those technologies (or their precursors) were developed at ISU. Right?
