If you like that, I would then go get Southern Rock Opera. It has some of the best DBT songs on it and is kind of like a history lesson on the South in the 70s. If you like that I'd then move on to the Dirty South. If you still like them and "get it" after that you'll just go out and buy the rest on your own.

This is a good recommendation, but I'd add that A Blessing and a Curse might be the next logical step from Southern Rock Opera. Can't go wrong w/Dirty South either.

Glad to hear you dig the DBTs yaman.

I've had that Foster record for a couple weeks now and it's great. It's what MGMT's second album SHOULD have been. If you like the radio single, you'll like the rest of the album plenty.

Other new releases anyone with even a modicum of musical sensibility should check out:
Recent Releases
Danger Mouse & Daniele Luppi - ROME
Tinie Tempah - Disc Overy
Man Man - Life Fantastic
Fleet Foxes - Helplessness Blues
Colourmusic - My ______ is Pink
Del tha Funkee Homosapian - Golden Era
Hugo - Old Tyme Religion
Atmosphere - The Family Sign

Homeruns everyone should have already heard:
Foo Fighters - Wasting Light
Beastie Boys - Hot Sauce Commitee p.2

Not out yet but should be manditory day one purchases:
My Morning Jacket - Circuital 5/31
Death Cab for Cutie - Codes & Keys 5/31
The Vaccines - What Did You Expect From the Vaccines - 5/31
The Envy Corps - It Culls You ???

He has a google alert set for DBT.

I'm really interested to hear this.

It's more like the Bat Signal, but it operates via text message. I was on the can when yaman posted, so it took me awhile to get there.

Sorry for answering for you, Al. Thought maybe you might be working or something.

No worries. You're as much, if not more, of a DBT authority as I am.

Dirty South and Decoration day are the DBT's best two albums...you've GOT to check one them out.

Decoration Day is, IMO, the best album of the last decade. But based on my own discovery of DBT, I'd argue it isn't the best place to direct the new listener.

Its all about T.P. Orchestre Poly-Rythmo de Cotonou, after being tracked down by serious collectors and archivists, the godfathers of Ghanaian afro-rock have reunited and sound better than they ever did before:

The industry sucks. That doesn't mean there isn't great music being produced. You just have to search past the radio.

Some albums I've been abusing the past couple months:

The King Is Dead-The Decemberists
Sleep With One Eye Open- Chris Thile and Michael Daves
The Head and the Heart- The Head and the Heart

Wow couldn't disagree more. There's been a ton of good stuff come out the last few years. Right now is a very good time for music.

Really like this album. I've found The Decemberists to be obnoxiously pretentious in the past (even though I really liked The Crane Wife it was clearly bloated), but this is just a damn good album. Major Tom Petty influence, and that's a very good thing.

I wouldn't try to impress this on someone who is very excited for Lil Wayne.

Frank Turner is my current favorite.
He used to be in a punk rock band in the UK, but the whole scene kind of failed him, so he broke off with an acoustic project and has been my favorite artist since.
For some great songs check out "Long Live the Queen" "Love Ire and Song" "Photosynthesis"... and whatever else youtube says with his name on it haha.

Danger Mouse - Wasnt really floored by the album. Pretty meh actually.
Tinie Tempah - I've thought about getting this album. Is it worth it?
Foo Fighters - Awesome album.
Beastie Boys - My album of the year thus far. It straight up rocks.
Death Cab for Cutie - I've been streaming this one for the last day or so. Its actually really, really good.

Ones you are missing -

Manchester Orchestra - Simple Math - Awesome album. Maybe #2 to Hot Sauce
Eddie Vedder - Ukulele Music - I'm way interested in this one when it drops.
Lupe Fiasco - LASERS - Pretty decent for Lupe.
Lady Gaga - Born This Way - Yeah, I said it. It was 99 cents on Amazon yesterday, I couldnt pass it up. There are quite a few catchy songs on there.

Not really new, but a cool song:
