You beat me to it. I know the odds are slim, but how awesome would it be for our program if Reader could pull off the upset.

That was a hell of an effort by Reader against Cael. Give Reader a little more time and experience, and I could see him knocking off Cael someday.

Cael went from wrestling 96 Kg (211#) at the Northeast regional to 84 Kg (185#) and Jon Reader went from wrestling 174# to wrestling 185# during about the same time frame. Reader will get better as he gets stronger and builds into the 84 Kg weight class.

Agreed, Reader is a stud. He never stops working, hustles back to the mat, very physical. A great example of how to wrestle hard the entire match. Good to see him get a takedown on Cael also.

Physical that's exactly right the same way Fullhart beat him. Cael won an Olympic gold in 04 but he was not the national champion that year.

It's hard to watch Cael knowing he bolted for the money. Can't really blame him, other than he just should have said as much.

I'm over it. While the money had influence, he was given the opportunity to move into a fertile area for wrestling along with top-notch, state-of-the art facilities to recruit and train wrestlers. While the state of Iowa is no slouch in wrestling pedigree, the population is just not there to produce the numbers with other larger markets catching up in skill.

I'm just happy that the two greatest collegiate wrestlers, and possibly at some point in the future, the two greatest collegiate wrestling coaches of all-time are ISU graduates.
