ISU STARTING QUARTERBACK

My only hope is that whoever the coaches name as the starter, we as a fan base support that guy. We believe that Rhoads, Herman, and whoever else will objectively pick the QB that gives the team the best chance to win.

PUT TILLER IN.

I think it will be Jantz but for the long term success of this program, it should be Barnett. Here's my reasoning. QB development. The 3 things CPR has listed since day 1 is accuracy, leadership, and ability to make plays with their feet. Now, when we look at the three QB's, all are very good at making plays with their feet. I believe Jantz and JB are probably even in leadership and ahead of Tiller because of some of his social media issues. At least nothing has been said about JB not being a leader. However, the statement has been made time and time again that JB is the most accurate of the three.
IMO, it's a no brainer. Now, if JB is competing with Jantz, our saviour, what's in store for SR or Rohach? What can they look forward to. What can potential recruits down the road look forward to....being overshadowed by some JC recruit simply because he is "thicker". Look at the perennial powers in this conference (Texas, OU, OUState), even TT, how often do they chase JC QB's instead of developing the guys they recruit. We will become just like KState. Every JC QB will be waiting on his call from ISU. Guys, we've recruited some very good QB's the last couple if years. Let's not lose sight that we're trying to get out the "left out" group. Building and not patching is what's gonna get us
there.
I'm going to root for Steele to do great things for ISU if he's the guy. And I'm hoping that JB will stay ready and that Sam and the 2012 class of QB's will stay on course with ISU. But IMO, if I had a RSfr that could stand toe to toe with a JC transfer on the field, I would go that route. Especially, with the fact that every media outlet is giving us less than 5 wins knowing Steele will be the guy, I'll take those lumps with my youngster and let him gain that experience. Plus, I'm showing my future QB recruits, I'm not ************ when I tell you that you will play here. JMO.

We all know Tiller has been REALLY bad. Steele has been here since spring and hasn't beaten him out yet. All it takes is being average to beat him out.

So if you want to hold onto some idea that CPR is lying to the media saying this is a close battle when it isn't thats fine. Im just preparing for the worst offensive group since 2003, and the best defense since 2005.

Going to be a crazy year.
How do you know this? From what I hear, Jantz has been taking the majority of the snaps with first team.

You thinking it should be Barnett.....:swoon:

Likely jumping Barnett on the depth chart after Jantz graduates.

mmm maybe, maybe not... lot of people believe the future is in the hands of a red shirt freshman...

ps after that article on cyclones.com there is no way on earth Jantz isnt the named starter. Taller, Bigger, Faster, has the fastest and quickest first 3 steps of all of the qbs... He anticipation and decision making is impressive to Herman, and he said Jantz already didnt make bad decisions in the spring. 100%

Really? Barnett is the one pushing Steele, not Tillet. No wonder we're only projected to win less than 5 games.
In all hoensty, I'm very excited about Barnett. But I really do think we will have to wait to see him when he's a Junior. I think Steele will be named starter tonight, and I think he will have a solid year and will have the reins for two years.

First of all, read the article again. It didn't say "he had the fastest and quickest first 3 steps of all the QB's". It did say however, that he was slightly taller and heavier than the other QB's (BTW, they was one of CPR's requirements for starting QB) and that Herman wax impressed with his anticipation and decision because it has "Improved" since the spring.....not because he was better than the other 2.

when is the actual announcement supposed to happen?

I have only read the first page of responses so far, but I think what CPR said is that he will know AFTER today. He also said in one of the practice videos that he wants time to look at the video of the scrimmage before naming a starter. I bet he does that Sunday and names the starter Monday. Just my opinion.

Also, a good clue to who the starter will be is who starts the first series in the scrimmage today, although, I wouldn't be surprised if he crossed people up by not starting the guy who he thinks will be the starter.

Are spectators allowed to see the scrimmage? I heard somebody saying they wanted to go?

okay i respect your opinion but disagree.. steele does the the quickest first 3 steps of the qbs. that doesnt equal starting, but as i have stated before... unless someone is hitting open guys and the right read over 60% of the time all the time..then steele has them beat already based on athletic ability alone.
