BTW, if anyone wants to talk to me today at the scrimmage I will be in the middle section about halfway up, wearing a cardinal and gold "all in" t-shirt, cardinal and gold ISU fitted cap, Oakley sunglasses, sitting next to a blue-eyed blonde in a cowgirl hat, short-shorts, and ISU tanktop. Just as for FBT.

Well I'll be the homeless looking guy wearing an old blue bird in the blender Cy shirt. Maybe flip flops. Dip of chew in mouth and maybe drunk off my butt. Sitting beside me will be a fat ugly chick. Man I wish I was you.

Who cares who you are dude? Just be a fan and not a dip stick who knows more then the coach.

Hey dude, I am a fan! I was hoping to have some good bantar with a fellow CF'er at the scrimmage. Thanks for the *** kicking. BTW, I like fat chicks! Big girls need loving, too!

I'm not getting your recruiting issue here...if I was Richardson or Rohach I would be MUCH more concerned about CPR starting a RFS than I would a JC guy. Steele will be gone about the perfect time for SR to come take the job. ISU does not need to be starting Freshman QB's. We need to get to the point that a guy can come in and really do well for his jr/sr year. Starting a guy as a freshman to me just tells other guys/recruits that the qb job at ISU is sealed up for the next 3-4 years, not that that would be the case but perhaps the perception. That's certainly NOT a selling point to high school kids or guys redshirting this year.

Here's my point, in 2 years from now we'll possibly be in the same situation. Barnett as a RsJr, with limited PT. SR as a RsSo with possibly no PT, and GR as a RSFr. Now, here we go again looking for a JC QB because we have no one on our roster with considerable PT and experience. Let's start "developing" our QB's from the ground floor like other powerhouse teams. They are not powerhouses because they're just great. They develop their players. Tried by fire. Guys, this is not just about JB, or SR, or GR. I'm talking about long term success. I agree, let's win now. But are we guaranteed wins just because we play a JC? Seneca was great! But, where was the QB development us to now. Ausen Arnaud? 3 different offenses, HC's, and OC's. No one will stay here because it abeen about patching and not developing.

Im about to get out of here. But, I just wanted to end my posts on this note. I really, really like Steele Jantz. I have met the guy, shook his hand, and he is very well spoken. He is a hard working sun of a gun and I look forward to watching him lead ISU to victories. Just because I like JB, he's from Texas like me and I know his family, doesn't mean I don't like the other guys. I'm just stating my opinion. No one in power at ISU gives a damn what I say. I look forward to watching a great scrimmage today and the Cyclones preparing to have a great season!

This argument is cyclical in nature. No matter the starter, they will eventually graduate and we will have a combination of Jr./So./Fr. QB's still on the team with little to no starting experience looking to move into the starting spot.

--------------

Or we could start a RsFr. or Fr. this year and skip recruiting QB's for 3 years and then pull in another Fr. to start when the previous graduates....you know develop players by fire.

I think the best player should start at each and every position as long as he's following all team rules. I don't care if he's a true freshman or Jess Settles 6th year senior.

I'm pretty sure Rhoads isn't going to start the 2nd best player just because he is older.

Oklahoma is a powerhouse team and they had Josh Heupel. He was a JUCO. You are right that we need player development, but we also need W's to build momentum and attract recruits. So, as is always true, the player who gives us the best chance to win should be playing.

Now, if you are starting with the assumption that all 3 QB's give us the exact same chance to win, then yes, I would go with the youngest of the three. But the bottom line is clear: Play the guy who gives you the best chance to win games. It's really that simple.

Disagree......again. The reason that Steele Jantz was brought in was because they were not sure about Tiller. Unsure about Capello. And Barnett was going to be a RS Frosh. Jantz was figured to be a Starter or 2nd team QB at the very least. And if one of the other QB's beat him out they felt comfortable in knowing we at least had a capable backup.

Consider if Jantz had not been brought in. And they felt uncomfortable with Tiller. Then we would have been looking at Capello, who transferred to a much lower caliber of ball, Barnett, a RS Frosh, and Sam Richardson, a true Frosh.

Bringing in Jantz was more about the uncertainty of Tiller and Capello and the youth of Barnett and Richardson than anything else. Plus the kid has size and some talent. QB is the most important position on the team. You MUST have at least one or two capable QB's at the very least or the season will be a bust.

wait wait wait. Did someone in this thread say it was a close race?

I'm just going to assume they either know nothing of the QB position or have never seen any of the QB's practice/play/scrimmage/or even read anything on either(or all three) doing so.

I can't stand the word frosh. If I remember correctly, the word frosh was originally used to describe redshirt freshman because they were second year guys and not a true freshman. Instead of calling them freshman, they were described as froshman. Now people call true freshman froshman, and it drives me nuts. They are ******* freshman. Why can't people call them by what they are?
