Incredibly stupid move.

We are simply stating that if A&M for any reason would decide that they want to stay in the Big XII after all of this **** they are pulling.... you boot them out. If they choose to leave and go to the SEC you let them go and collect their buyout. There is no reason that A&M should be allowed to come crawling back if this SEC thing doesn't work out for them.

I'm not arguing for this in any way. I understand it would not be a good financial decision to make, but I don't think the Big 12 would be seen as a bad guy to most people if they for some reason felt necessary to show A&M the door.

I understand the sentiment, but wouldnt this just be acting just as emotionally as everyone accuses the aggies of doing?

It may be, but it also could potentially make the conference much more stable. That's the only major benefit I could see from it.

What we need to do is get 2 more schools in here now (BYU and one other would be ideal.. ND if they actually are in play, or Air Force, etc). If by some random chance TAMU stays, we have 12 teams. If they leave, we grab another. At that point its your 12th team you're replacing, so even if its just houston its not all bad as long as the other 2 were decent adds.

It's a moot point. The aggies are leaving people. No way they issue this letter w/o a wink and a nod from the sec.

Not really. The LHN isn't going away. Texas isn't going away. IF A&M were to come back and want to stay in the Big XII they will cause just as many problems as they have been for the last year. If A&M remains in the Big XII then there will never be any sense of stability within the conference. The Big XII can't allow that to happen as it would have very negative consequences for the Big XII and the other 9 Big XII members. It would be best at that point to just make a clean break. A&M wouldn't ever leave to be an independent by choice so the Big XII would have to take matters into their own hands and send them packing.

The chances of this happening are very slim as A&M will most likely bolt on their own but if they decide to stay it would be in the best interest of the conference to get rid of them.

If the Big XII were actually able to grab ND, you don't wait to see if A&M wants to stay. You kick their ***** out regardless of money left on the table.

There is a reason to keep A&M if for some reason the SEC thing doesn't work out. If they were to find themselves without a conference they'd start looking at the Pac XX (whatever number) and that could start an actual Big 12 implosion where those Big 12 South teams leave together.

I'd like to see A&M stay in the end but that likely won't happen. So if not, let them go to the SEC and get all the misery they deserve!

Maybe I'm just not up on College football recently, but I was wondering what the love for Air Force in this thread is all about. I just don't see what they bring to the table to be a good fit into a conference needing stability and more TV sets. I know people who were in the Air Force and never hear them ever talk about the football team or wanting to catch the game. I just don't see a service academy as a great addition to a conference trying to build some power.

Not trying to be a jerk, i really don't know that much about the program. What is it they would offer, other than getting back a team from Colorado? Wouldn't CSU be a better invite if we were trying to get TV Sets?

ND isnt coming and even if they were there is no way they are going to decide that quickly. and if they were coming A and M would stay anyway.

Really believe its a pipe dream for ND

Add BYU.. they are a 1000 miles from any current Big XII team

therefor you add the best teams that are within a good distance with some history

your 2nd team is then Air Force

3rd Team is who ever New Mexico/ UNLV,Nevada Colorado State

I do not want another Texas school in this league

The Big XII is dominating Texas already EXPAND the footprint

Step 3:

TAMU says 'fine, we'll leave in 2013 instead, and pay you less, but be a pain in your *** for the next 2 years'.

Big 12: Fine. Feel free to stay. And since you are still part of the conference until 2013, should you become a pain in the *** for those two years, we will sue your *** off for breach of your contractual obligations to the Big 12.

A&M staying until 2013 will hurt them much more than it will the Big 12. Any coaches who don't want to coach in the SEC get more time to find other jobs. Athletes who don't want to travel an extra 500 miles per road trip get more time to find other schools to transfer to.

Couple of thoughts....

a) would/could our former head football coach (now at Auburn) help out the school (that gave him his first gig as a head coach) and lobby against A&M joining the SEC?

b) would/could our current head coach (formerly from Auburn) pull any strings at his old school and lobby against A&M too?

c) would/could our former head coach (now at Auburn) help out his former boss (Mack Brown from Texas) and lobby against A&M if asked?
