Another article on how the money doesn't seem to add up for A&M to the SEC.

News Headlines

Money isn't what is important to them. The only reason they want out of this conference is to stop being the understudy of our conference's 800-lb gorilla, Tejas. They don't seem to care that the conference they are trying to join is made up of 600-lb gorillas. But you know the saying, grass is always greener and whatnot.

Is there a necessity for TAMU to be out before September 1st (2011), or am I just making that up from some random post in this monster thread? If that is true, something should be going down tomorrow. I am starting to feel like the chances they leave are lowering as time goes on.

No, Tammy is gone.

Believe me, I understand that. I'm still trying to figure out what the SEC thinks it is getting out of this deal.

Part of the Houston market? Oh wait, I am sure Texas is the foothold there too, followed by LSU. Ya I dont know.....

A way into Texas would be my guess. TV sets and recruiting gold mines

SEC is already in Texas to a large degree. The only thing I can come up with is down the road they want an SEC network and figure A&M will give them leverage to add the SEC network to the basic carriers in all of Texas???

For the near term there isn't much of anything there for the SEC though other than diluting their brand and cause a problem with finding a #14.

I can't believe there aren't more schools in the SEC that are not in favor of this move.

If this goes through (and yes I think it is going to happen), I predict they will regret the move down the road. If it forces them to take WVA as #14, which looks to be somewhat possible, the SEC just shot themselves in the foot to a degree IMO.

Which I can't figure out why this would be a big deal to the SEC - they only have won the last 5 national championships without inroads to Texas recruiting, and, as of the moment, don't have their own cable network, so Texas TV sets are rather useless...

Money may still be squeezing their nuts:
The Big 12 agreed to a 13-year television deal with Fox Sports in April worth more than $1 billion. There is a chance the contract could be voided if the Aggies leave the conference, which could lead to legal issues for Texas A&M and its new league.

From a journal article studying the culture of Bonfire:

Red Pots were the Corps member who lit Bonfire. Burka 2000, is an article from Texas Monthly, which I doubt would publish that account unless there were some truth to it.

In all seriousness:

Aggies are completely ****ed. Jesus tap dancing Christ.

There are no words to describe how utterly demented that is.

I would think that the current 12 teams would want a guarantee that they are going to get an increase at least equal to their proportionate share before they accept A&M. That might be what is holding them up and maybe A&M's handlers haven't given them the ok from the SEC yet.

After what looks to be an active afternoon, seems like the posts are slowing down. We need Boomer to come on with some tweet to stir things up.

Stoops says he expects things to go "swiftly" once A&M and/or SEC make their moves.

This should help tide you over until Boomer brings his real sources. Tweets from Travis Haney, reporter for the Oklahoman.
