NO, don't cave to the "couldn't care less" mob. Could care less more accurately reflects the sentiments of the phrase. Think about it... "Could care less" means you might or might not be able to care less. You care so little about it that you didn't even decide if you could care less or not.

On the other hand "couldn't care less" means you actually care enough about the subject that you determined whether you could or couldn't care less.

Nice thought, but I don't think that's the way that phrase works.

I don't care.

It would be somewhat painful to be OK, as successful as they are, and still be tied right to Texas' butt.

Don't say the above to any die-hard English majors; you'll get an earful as your eyes roll to the back of your head.

Oh, for christs' sake. I was making an off handed comment. I sure as heck wasn't trying to switch this from a math slap fight to a grammar one.

It doesn't make any sense economically unless like you say, some donor has promised to donate millions to make up for the exit fee. Im assuming they aren't very good with money seein that in the very recent past their Athletic deparment was in the red.

Nor does the move make sense from a winning standpoint since it will be extremely difficult for them to consistenly win in the SEC.

It only makes sense from a stability standpoint but I assume that if the big 12 broke up in a few years they could have easily joined another conference. That is why anyone can clearly see that is strictly a jealously move because they can't stand playing second fiddle to Texas.

Colorado and Nebraska's moves made much more sense that does A&M's.

I just think that once they start playing in the SEC they will regret making the decision because they wont be able to consistently win. What fans want most of all is to win and if they couldn't consistently win in the big 12 they certainly aren't going to do it in the SEC.
Maybe the owner of the TAM sportswear store made a big contribution. Look at all the shirts that now must be tossed. Wait, just throw them on the bonfire.

I missed the paragraph where it said Pollard will be contacting Barry Alvarez and that President Geoffroy will be traveling to Happy Valley this afternoon (President of Penn State - ISU grad).

Edit: Is :jimlad: necessary?

Don't worry after a few more posts no one will want to go back and read it anyway.

I don't really care what they say. If they want to take the phrase literally that's their own problem. In my opinion, "could care less" is a better phrase than "couldn't care less" because of the reasons I mentioned before. You use the phrase (however you say it) when you are dismissing something offhand and don't even care enough to give your opinion on it. To be consistent with that sentiment, you should use an indefinite statement which reflects that you haven't even considered the topic at hand.

On the other hand, if you are actually actively debating a topic you could use the "couldn't care less" variety but that would be a poor argument. If you're actively trying to insult someone or refute their points, you've also already proved that you do care at least somewhat about the topic because you've taken the time to actively engage in it.

I wanted to help set the record. But for the record, I couldn't care less.

It's not just English majors that get it right. Communication majors, too.

That's idiotic. Its 'i couldnt care less' because you literally could not care less. Not some convoluted 'oh i couldnt care so much that im going to say i could care less because i actually mean i couldnt'
