the OL was letting 3 guys through on a 3 man rush at the end of the game. You think they would be able to stumble into one guy just by accident.

I noticed from my seats KO was out and there were 4 red shirt freshman on the line...can someone confirm that? if so what is wrong with KO?

I can confirm it, but I have no idea why. Maybe Rhoads was trying to light a fire.

Dika actually played quite well. About the only lineman i can say that about.

Watched both Iowa and ISU play today. Im not going to take anything from either games. Iowa was playing a cupcake in bad weather and isu was playing a good? FCS team with starters out. Next week we will know more about how good/bad each team is.

If we play as mindlessly and passively as we did today, it won't take long.

I hope we come out with some fire next week.

I will agree - in my ISU history we have almost always found ways to lose these games.

On the other hand, the 2003 season began this way. We survive against UNI at home, convincingly beat a really, really bad Ohio team, and everybody thinks we're fine for the rest of the season. But then, the wheels fall off.

Well, it wasn't a perfect game. But there's something to be said for a team to be able to find a way pull out a game they had no business being in at the end. I won't put much stock in what happened today at JTS or in Iowa City, but if ISU doesn't come out more fired up it'll be a long damn day.

Here I'll eat some:

I'm guessing a few of you may want to eat some for the score predictions ;)

I Really thought the panthers had this one. I hope they can bounce back since next week certainly won't be any easier in Texas.

Jantz made plenty of mistakes but he did make plays when it REALLY mattered. I think he will improve a TON this year. Best of luck cyclones take down the hawks next week!

I have no doubt UNI will win quite a few games this year.

Did we have any sacks tonight? asked my friend who is sitting next to me...

hahahahahahahahaha!!!!! you have to be in the backfield in order to get a sack. The better question is " did we get in the backfield tonight?" That was a rhetorical question. No we did not.

Playcalling was questionable at times. The read option doesn't work when the o-line can't block. Running game was lousy if you don't count Jantz's scrambles.

Jantz needs to learn to make smarter decisions in the pocket instead of rolling out everytime he gets pressured.

No excuse for giving up an 80 yard pass after the Lenz td. Who was guarding that guy?

Also what happened to KO?

I hope so but the last 2 times in recent history that UNI lost by one to Iowa or ISU have not been good seasons for UNI.

7-4 both in 2006 and 2009 and no playoffs

It hard not to look to the past, but its just that. I struggle with this too.

Different year, different team. Im glad this game is over though.

The running back ran a wheel route out of the backfield. Knott had to guard him and got burned.

as i posted in the steel thread.

Tipped ball for an int. Several key, key players out / injured. Lucky for a win and Jantz settling down for the 4th quarter with cluth plays. We'll know a lot more after the game next week. Get healthy get Rump and KO up to 100% get the starting wide recievers back, calm down Jantz (dropped balls not on him, bad throws on him). and we'll see where this goes. UNI had all the momentum, every reason to win this game on OMG we drive in the 4th qtr again (3 td were scored, first one thank you ref, 2nd one OMG ref, Third one thank god there was no question) to win a game. Hasn't happened since meyer so thank yo for the win, clean it up and bring on the squaks.
