BREAKING NEWS: Big XII To Announce Three New Members Tuesday

Breaking news: Big XII Conference to announce invitation of new schools on Tuesday. It's expected that the league's commissioner, Dan Beebe, will announce that the University of Texas, the University of Texas, and the Detroit Lions have accepted positions in the Big XII, thus ensuring the conference's stability at 12 teams.

"We're really very excited about the future of the Big XII," says DeLoss Dodds, University of Texas AD. "Our opportunity to compete well and win in this league has just gotten much greater, and we look forward to the new quality of our competition."

The Detroit Lions organization was said to be ecstatic about once again having the chance of making it to the playoffs. Quarterback Matthew Stafford has been quoted as saying, "we've finally gotten ourselves to the point where we are evenly matched against our competition."

You got me.

dude, while well intentioned, your post is kind of well - off the mark. We are all here to get the breaking news that ISU will be ok, your efforts ring kind of well hollow in that regard, Vodka is better than beer in conference realignment though, Vodka give hope, I highly suggest you swtich just to feel positive again

If BE was to add 3 teams, wouldn't it make more sense to add Mizzou, KU, and ISU to get a larger conference footprint and more TV sets? KU will give you the state of Kansas so why would KSU be desirable? Iowa may not be very large but it would give more than repeating in a state already covered

OK, here is something else I have been thinking about. Let's say that Chip Brown's latest article is accurate - NOT SAYING IT IS - and the following happens.

ACC - Texas, UConn, Syracuse, Rutgers
Pac-10 - KU, KSU, OU, OSU
SEC - A&M, MU, Pitt, WV (or 2 ACC teams and ACC takes Pitt and WV)

that would leave the following BCS schools for Big 10 to choose from:

ND, ISU, Cincinnati, South Florida, Louisville, Baylor, Texas Tech, (TCU, BYU)

Out of those, who do you think Big Ten would choose? Would someone from the new ACC leave after expanding to 16?

OK, there's no alcohol involved, at least on my side. I'm just trying to put into words how insane this all has been for us. And, if I made at least one person laugh or smile, I did what I was hoping too. OF COURSE this is a stressful time for us all, and I want that good info to come through about ISU.

Thinking too much, no way Texas goes to the ACC and no way the Big 10 is left with the teams that no one is talking about. Texas and OU stay, we live for another day and this madness becomes an epic thread about what could have been but not what we will be

insane yes and sorry, I like to think there is chance we get to play our regional rivals in football, but no way I think we get in the big 10 unless we are a token pick that averts all lawsuits, I doubt that will happen, this has been and will continue to be about money until the powerful are threatened with costly litigation, and if that happens I like our chances based on geography and academics

Vodka is a more creative juice, Beer is depressing, I highly reccommend trying Vodka to lighten your load in this madness...

My head hurts thinking about how many combinations there are out there. The last time Chris updated the realignment blog it was Friday morning and we all felt somewhat optimistic about the Big 12's future even though it was a little shaky. End of the Labor Day weekend and all is about to break loose.

All I have to say is thank you university presidents for defending the mission of our public universities to educate the next generation to the best of your abilities. Time for bed.

Texas wants to hold the Big 12 together. Hard to believe, but true. In intense discussions with OU. May or may not work out.

For once, i'm pulling for the longhorns.....I hope Deloss can pull a rabbit out of the hat.

Not hard to believe at all. They dont want to give up their network or have to play as an equal.

Yeah, If Oklahoma sent a delegation to Texas that can't make anything worse (since we're looking at no more Big XII right now), it only can make no change or make things better. Hopefully they came to some kind of deal that keeps the Big XII alive.

Of course they want to hold it together. Oklahoma is trying to see how much they can soak out of Bevo with their brinkmanship. Texas is the king of the jungle with this arrangement. In the Pac Whatever they are just another big football power in a league with two LA schools, Oregon, Stanford and U Dub...kings no more.
