Big Ten proposed a tiered structure for new members. However, I am pretty sure that Nebraska is not getting a full share for several years, so why would MU get a full share?

So, it gradually is sounding like more money can be had in the B12. Hmmm. Are some looking stupid or what. When the ADs go to the university presidents and admit they have greener pastures at home, some of the Prezs m,ay not like to go to their boards at that point...

Okay, that makes more sense then. I could see how they are eschewing any kind of tiered structure when the SEC is offering a better deal. I wouldn't be excited to volunteer for the whippings that are surely in their future in the SEC but I get it now.

because their revenues are locked and their member schools don't want to lose money in expanding would be my only guess.

Or they figure these schools outside ND are beggars needing a home so they would rather throw them a bone instead of letting them eat at the table.

Because they can. The Big Ten's power will always lie with Michigan, OSU and PSU and the other original member to a lesser extent. Mizzou couldn't destroy the conference. IMO, if we are offered that deal, we better take it.

Has Tam pulled the trigger yet? Will they be getting a second tier deal also in the SEC. I would suspect this is the case. If I was CBS, I would not pay one more frigging nickel to broadcast mason jar games.

Why offer at all unless you think these schools have something to offer that you are going to need? Just seems like a weird report on so many levels.

And yes, ISU would and should jump on such a thing if it was offered to them. I'm not disputing that, even if it does seem like there is a chance we'd be locked into a deal we'd regreat 10 or so years down the line.

You know, it's kind of starting to feel like last year. ANother conference wants them but there may be some concessions or other technicalities that hold it up and in the end maybe the B12 is the best for everyone.

Listen, I want the Big XII to survive and then grow as much as the next guy. I just don't see how that is going to happen with all the crap that just went down. I am really getting tired of this BS Boiling over every year when I should be thinking about football games. AT this point, I'm going to support ISU no matter what. I just want it over with and things to settle out so that I can focus on football games instead of who got butthurt today and is exploring their options.

Because unless you are constantly adding the UT's of the world, you can't keep adding members without eventually reducing everybody's TV payout.

A permanent tiered system is worse than what the Big 12 has. In the Big 12, if your teams get on TV (i.e. your teams improve), you get more money from the TV pool. Why would somebody sign up for a permanent lower share? That just screams "we are second rate."

It will be interesting to see how they react, it does seem like we get this ill-perceived reception of being nothing out here in Iowa and people seem to think we've had no success in athletics. Once people learn facts or especially once they have visited the react changes dramatically...
