I used to and I will admit that I don't any more. In fact I highly doubt we win the first two games with Tiller in the starting position. No disrespect against Tiller but Steele is just the best QB at ISU I have seen since Senecca!

Looking back it was easy to see why Capello(sp) transfered... I think it was coach speak all the way this fall!!

I think Capello parents and the Capello kid knew about the situation all along. I am just so happy that everyone embraced Steele so well in Ames. The kid needs a lot of support in this final two years. I wish we got his right out of high school.

I think he won it by a wide margin and Tiller was probably not second or a close third. If SJ practiced like he has played so far, it is no wonder Tiller got depressed and stopped going to classes. Still disappointed in Tiller. Don't think he would have played a lot, but at least he had played a D-1 game before and could have provides some backup.

Very true. The way Steele plays makes him very susceptable to injuries. I wish Tiller was standby so he could share time with Jantz.

I think coach Rhoads made a really good decision in his Q/B choice. Steele looked really good against Iowa. Good luck to him and the entire team.Go Cyclones

I actually disagree. He is very very good at avoiding contact when he needs to (falling, sliding, diving), but he can put his nose down and run hard when he needs yards. Arnaud had more of a running back mentality where he wanted to fight for every single yard all the time, which is commendable, but not quite as safe.

After UNI I had some doubt.

I think Steele made it pretty clear against Iowa.

You never know, maybe Steele isn't a great practice player and the competition was legitimately right down to the wire. Some guys play better when the lights are on. I'm still concerned about Steele going on the road for the first time.

I really REALLY hope that is the case. Steele does avoid situations where he could get hurt very easily.

I would also point out that we seem to be doing a lot less QB keep zone reads. This may be because of the reads Jantz is making on the field, or just more designed RB run plays to keep Jantz healthy.

Read an article where Rhoads said today in his presser, That they knew Jantz had ability in practice, he just never showed it in full. He was basically saying, he wasnt showing in practice, that in the clutch, He was gonna kill it. Kind of hard to gauge in practice. Im glad he ended up being a gamer.

Not a better feeling for fans, In 3-4th down situations or hostile environment situations, than knowing your QB has ice in his veins and is gonna give it hell every time.

Mr. Capello? How has James done so far in his games. I'm not sure if you have posted any news on CF, but feel free to post how he is doing. There are still a ton of Cyclones out there that wish him the absolute best.

No, and I never did from the start because I trust our coaches over arm chair coaches and posters on this site....

I think exactly the same way.

The same armchair QBs are the same ones that for years kept shouting "PUT IN TILLER!!!" and prior to that "PUT IN BATES!!!"

Tiller is an adequate QB if you don't want the QB to lose games for you (the only game Tiller really "lost" for us was the A$M game, but then again that was more of a team loss). Tiller didn't and wasn't going to win any games for ISU. I think people are far too blinded by that Nebraska game. Essentially Tiller made one throw and didn't get himself in trouble - but he didn't win that game, the defense won that with 8 turnovers. Nor did he win that UNI game for us last year - once again that was on the defense. Notice a theme here? If a team is going to go with a QB that doesn't lose games for you, you have to have a component, such as the defense, that will win games for you. ISU doesn't consistently have that - see the Mizzou game last year. Tiller didn't lose the game for us, and the defense did more than their job that evening. But we needed somebody to win that game for us, and we had nobody. While I think Arnaud may or may not have won the Mizzou game for us, at least he would have gone down in flames trying.

As far as Bates, well, the guy makes ONE CATCH against Iowa and suddenly he should be the one taking the snaps. Seriously. Catching the ball proves you're capable of playing the QB position?

Anyway, the guy quit in the middle of the season, transferred to Ohio and was never heard from again. Yet some people still think he should have been QBing the team.

Honestly, I'm convinced armchair QBs never liked Arnaud from day one, even though he was always clearly the best option. Considering the last 5 years, I give ISU's armchair QBs exactly zero credence - they clearly have no clue what they're talking about. If they had their way Tiller would have been starting over jantz, and. ISU would probably be looking at an 0-2 record right now. But their egos would be tickled because "the guy that beat Nebraska" :)biglaugh:) would be the guy starting

Oh, by the way, I find the irony striking that he ones that lead the charge in making fun of Iowa fans for being quick to call for their backup QB are, gasp, ISU's armchair QBs that do the very same thing.
