The Rivals site at Rutgers is stating they have been in contact with the B1G.

With like every other school who has a chance of getting screwed over. I'm sure ISU has been in talks with the B1G, but so what.

ACC has essentially flipped the bird to Delaney and Slive with this move. WVU or Mizzou is pretty much the only move for Mr. "I could get to 16 in 15 minutes" Slive. No one is leaving the ACC now.

Let me be clearer. Rutgers is talking to the B1G and they believe they will get an invite.

for the first time in all of this, I am now resigned to the probability this isn't going to end well...Texas, Tech, OU and OSU likely head west, A&M to the SEC leaving KSU, KU, ISU, Baylor and Mizzou. KU and Mizzou probably have a chance at the Big 10, Mizzou might have a chance at the SEC...KState, ISU and Baylor are almost certain outsiders. Can't see the ACC jumping several states to take any of the Big 12 schools unless Texas is included, but no way I can see texas goes that directon. A merger of the Big East Leftovers and Big 12 Leftovers is temporary until the SEC and Big 10 complete their Expansion...Gotta hope the threat of massive litigation somehow shapes this thing and we find a seat...

9 Candidates have had preliminary interviews (in Minneapolis). (as of yesterday) The committee will narrow it to 5 then hold on-campus interviews.

I'm aware of this. Does that change anything I said?

Let me be clearerer. You're quoting a Rivals site. Very few people know what's actually going on with their schools, and no one knows everything. Those who do know what's going on with their schools (and are smart) are not saying anything.

I must say, this really threw a curve into all that has gone down. I am anxious to see how it plays out now.

I haven't read all 730 pages of the thread but has anyone placed any blame on the original Big 8?

They kind of sold their soul to the devil in 1996 when they formed the Big 12 and invited Texas et all in to what was a stable league with an identity.

They broke up the old SWC and I don't remember too many ISU fans having too much sympathy for TCU, SMU, Houston, etc. Along the same lines, Baylor had no problem hitching a ride into the league back then...how can they whine when other schools hitch a ride out of the league 16 years later?

I think a lot of the blame needs to go to the founders of the Big 12 and their lack of progressive thinking relating to first class TV contracts. The league was constantly behind the times with football on tv and they are paying the ultimate price right now.

Remember that the ACC fired the first shot the last time this went down so its not shocking. What was shocking it the 2 teams that went to ACC 2 teams that had been thought to be Big East or B1G.

You can blamethe Big 8 a touch but when Arkansas left to the SEC that set in motion the SWC disbanding. The Big 8 did what was smart and logical at the time in expanding to 12.

no way has Pollard not been in contact with the BIG. I think we have a shot as partial qualifier.

You weren't before?
No, the logic of the Big 12 sticking together kept hope alive, same logic that saved the day last year...appears too much momentum to turn back now, Texas holds the keys to realignment and OU appears to have forced their hand because they wanted to go west. Texas almost certainly goes with them and this will all be done in the coming weeks. that part is good, spent countless hours obsessing over this looking for the positive, but for the first time - it appears the consensus of the decision is its inevitability and might as well get it done now....
