I disagree...look at the ACC grabbing Pitt and Syracuse. It is logical expansion. The B10, SEC will also have logical expansion geographically. The Pac can't do that because of their location.

I agree with this. The PAC 10 can only go one way. When/if B1G expands, academics will certainly play a part.

Texas didn't just start the LHN and break a bunch of rules. I don't know how many times this will have to be said, but OU and aTm voted exactly the same as Texas on this. CU and NU as well. This wasn't a rogue Texas AD situation like everyone wants to make it out to be. Texas did what the conference voted to allow when it was formed. After that, every other big program got ****** because they couldn't do it. aTm was offered to be included on that network. They declined then saw UT get a metric **** ton of money and were ******. This thing doesn't come down to Texas. Judging by everything that has been put out there, UT has actually done everything in their power to save the thing. Had OU, NU, CU, aTm, not been greedy in their own right, the LHN would never have happened. Then, instead of ******** and leaving, they could have all used their collective power to create a league wide network with a full schedule of quality content and generated perhaps more money than they will ever see. Good grief, we could have had a network getting paid for in Texas all the way up through Iowa. That would have been a nice deal for all involved.

Sure, Texas could have initiated all of that on their own but why should they?
So why do we not have a B12 Network and pamper all the babies.

I am mostly new to this thread that totals some 788 pages. Is there a Table of Contents to point a new reader like myself to the different chapters of this drama? Are we at the middle or the end of this book. I guess the middle because I do not see a fat lady singing or the good guys winning the big battle and living happily ever after.

With the national scale of this whole thing I'm becoming more convinced that this is only the beginning of the whole drama. Stuff is going to settle down in another 2-3 weeks, but it's only the beginning because this thing is headed to the courts.

I just can't see how this thing ends well for anybody. Lots of schools are going to get hurt (including those in non-BCS conferences) and people are going to sue. I expect at least a year long court battle.

Im going to be interested to see where the SEC would expand. Do they go to a state they already have a team, Louisville(KY), South Florida (Florida) or do they go elsewhere like WVU or Missouri.

I've seen articles claiming there is a band of SEC presidents (and I would assume they are South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, and Kentucky) who will vote against adding a school in any state with a current SEC school.

I've also seen that West Virginia is the favorite, but I'm worried they'll come after Missouri.

The Big 12 has been a marriage of convenience wtih Power and Greed at the forefront since its inception, when it was good for Texas, Nebraska, A&M, and OU to vote for their interests, they did just that - it created a monster in Texas and the ensuing instability. Of course Iowa State went along with it, what were they supposed to do? But there is a reason the Big 12 fell apart and you don't have to look much farther than Texas. Why is this not happening in the Big 10, SEC and PAC? The Big 12 could have been the consolidater on its own terms, instead Texas, Nebraska, Aggie and OU likely will have blown it up to only agree to the same principles they opposed for so many years. Oh the irony...

So when this is all over, I will always root for whoever plays those schools! No clue where ISU lands in this mess, but if the threat of massive lawsuits has any effect, our best case would be 5 14 member conferences rather than 4 16. In this scenario, Texas perhaps holds the 5th conference together with a merger of the Big East/Big 12 and continue to enjoy their position as top dog and cake walk to the Championship, but the problem with this is the threat will always be expansion to 16 of the 4 other conferences. Texas holds the cards whether its 14 or 16, no one is going to go to 16 if they think Texas is possibly in play.

Despite all of the speculation and ramblings in all of these posted articles, there's one common denominater - Texas and their beloved LHN. When will they realize that conferences with an equal TV revenue sharing arrangements are stable, happy, and able to grow? When will they also realize that those same conferences do not want TX and the unequal and destabilizing LHN? Even some of the local media such as the Dallas Morning News is beginning to turn on them. I am beginning to feel that TX will go independent, after they cause the demise of the Big 12 and financially impairing several of their conference schools athletic departments. In two weeks maybe we will know alot more than we know today. It will be interesting to see how ISU fans react when TX comes to Ames.

Well said. Of course, according to so many Texas apologists on this board, the Longhorns are committed to saving the Big 12.
So they'll never bail...right? Right?

I think it's safe to say that most schools, including Texas, would prefer an extant Big XII, and Texas in particular has a lot on the line with the LHN.

Chip Brown is making stuff up again.

Actually the Chip Brown article makes a whole lot of sense. PIT/Cuse going to the ACC is huge and most likely means OU and UT are leaving for the PAC. This is not looking good folks; especially if OU takes OSU and UT takes TT.

My remaining hope is that the B10 grabs KU/KSU/MU/ISU and goes to 16.
