i'm as pessimistic as any cyclone right now, i appreciate the egos and $$$$ involved, but that's going to be something to see when cal, stanford, and ucla decide to "partner" with Okie State and TTech.

maybe some good ol fashioned academic arrogance can save the b12!

Statement from UCLA AD:

Dr. Martin Luther King once said, "We may all have come in different ships, but we are all in the same boat now." Those of us in the same boat, the existing Pac-12 members, need to think long and hard as to the relevancy and value of bringing new members into the boat.

A Message From UCLA Athletic Director Dan Guerrero - UCLA Athletics - UCLA Official Athletic Site

Did UCLA's AD just support segregation? Using a Martin Luther King quotation is an indication of a weak speech as it is, let alone using it for the exact opposite purpose of its original intent.

I read this as, "no ****ing way the rednecks and hillbillies from Okie Lite and TTU are getting into our conference. Sorryboutcha.

I hope you're right.

I've been maintaining all along that it makes no sense for Pac-12 to take OSU or TTU. Why would they be listening to any demands from UT or OU? The Pac-12 is secure and they and their member institutions are in a position of power over both of these schools. However, once they let them in they will be stuck with them forever. I don't see it happening. It makes sense for them to take OU and UT, but not the others.

I just decided to stop reading things and make it up just like everyone in the media, so I got out of it that they are telling the south brigade to FO and we're taking KU/mu/isu/and city juco college, because they feel if SJ can start for them their good enough to belong.

OU prez. RT @TravHaney: Boren: 2 options - Pac-12 or save Big 12. Not happy with Baylor, others, for threatening suit. Not happy with LHN.

This is going back the other way right now. This weekend, I felt like OU and OSU were a done deal to the PAC. Today after the all the coach's words and the comments from Boren I really think the Big 12 will survive.

So if this swings back and only tammy leaves, or gets left at the bus stop, we will have 15000 post to basically announce they are leaving. WOW!!!!!!

BTW, she must not be too attactive if nobody has picked her up yet.

Boren isn't happy of the threat of lawsuits because he knows that OU is next in line to get sued if they try and bolt. Once again... the popular scapegoat is announced as the LHN. It is obvious Texas wants to remain in the Big XII. If OU had an administrator with an actual pair ot testicles they would be negotiating with Texas right now to save the Big XII rather then running off to LA for the weekend to hang with Larry Scott. How stupid is this guy at OU?

His biggest mistake was NOT stepping off the expansion committee.

You can't lead the committee to expand and be looking for a door out at the same time.

What a moron. He and Loftin are both morons.

Stand back everyone, Ken Star is going to kick some ***.

Oh yeah! Talk about all sorts of problems, being placed in charge of expanding the conference, and then blowing it up? Nope, no conflict of interest there at all.

Boren's remarks, as well as aTm, make me think those guys in no way want to go through discovery. I guarantee you wouldn't believe what would be found out. At this point, Baylor has absolutely nothing to lose, and could make all sorts of claims of damages. You wouldn't believe how big the numbers could get.

I am thinking we are more than fine now, actually. Seems that all of this could have just been an elaborate bluff, where the dOUchebags and aTmasons tried to somehow thread the needle where the big dogs still got equal revenue at the top, without having to share with the bottom.

They have always been just fine with inequality, it is just that now they see ut pulling away, and they are not cool with that.
