That's what I thought too. Especially after they claimed to be loyal to the B12 during that time frame as well as signing the 2nd tier tv contract.
Wow a year and a half ago huh. Probably should avoid the presidents calls going forward. Can't wait to watch A&M get bulldozed, but they think they can win more recruiting battles. Lets see finish 12th in the SEC or play for Texas and compete for national titles I know where I would go.
I heard that too. All I can say is, "WHAT????"
1. It's one thing to give somebody your word and go back on it, but its even worse to go back on your word when you were sure you were leaving in the first place!!!
2. If you decided a year and a half ago that you were leaving, what was your reason then?? The Longhorn network was still just an idea back then. What if you didn't have the Longhorn network excuse to fall back on in July? What would they have said their reason for leaving was?

Texas A&M Aggies show they're not ready for primetime - ESPN
These people are not ready for the Southeastern Conference.
Texas A&M's ghastly collapse against Oklahoma State on Saturday was not greeted with shrieks of outrage from the 87,358 fans in Kyle Field. From field level at the final gun, there was no visible rending of garments or gnashing of teeth -- to the contrary, the Aggies fans politely clapped for their players as they jogged to the locker room. I didn't hear a single call to fire the coach, fire the coordinators, fire the athletic director, yank anyone's scholarship or waterboard the officials.
That lack of murderous intent is not going to get it done in the SEC, Aggies.
Then again, neither is giving up 21 points in the first 11½ minutes of the third quarter. Or surrendering 27 straight points in the second half. Or losing momentum so totally and completely at home, as a top 10 team, in front of the fourth-largest crowd in Kyle Field history.
By all means, give Oklahoma State a ton of credit for its 30-29 triumph here -- that team is as tough as it is talented. And give the orange-clad fans half credit for cheekily chanting "Big 12! Big 12! Big 12!" in the waning seconds -- an ironic declaration of league loyalty when you remember that the Cowboys appeared to have one boot out the door for the Pac-12 just a few days ago.
At least Sherman didn't have to hear any audible second-guessing from the paying public coming off the field post-debacle. His team isn't ready to compete in the SEC, and his saintly fan base isn't ready either.

Wait. Just because a fan base doesn't act like Hawk fans and call for the heads of the coaching staff after each loss they aren't good fans?!
Good point. From my experience from going to road games in the B12 have been good as far as the treatment of the opposing fans. We were in Austin last year and we were very impressed by how we were treated even after we won.
Everyone talks about how A&M is going to have trouble on the field of competition I wonder if the fans are going to have to adjust to SEC fan bases as well?
I was astounded when I heard he said that. I thought Dr. Bow Tie was smarter than that. Pittsburg skuttled the new TV contract for the Big East, then bails. aTm grins and signs on (fingers crossed behind their back I guess). And you wonder, if Baylor has no case, why the SEC or aTm doesn't pull the trigger on leaving. I think they pay out a lot on exit fees for this to get the Big XII members to sign away their right to sue over this. No lawsuit threats against Pitt or Syracuse that I know of...
Loved seeing the OK state folks signing their school songs as the postgame ended at the game. It would be even more sweet to see our team singing fights at the student section after Homecoming game against aTm... :yes:
If I understand this correctly, the Iowa BOR, in their bylaws, have already ceded rights for all athletic dept. decisions to the presidents of all the regents' universities, thus GG has the power to grant ISU's TV rights if he wishes to do so.
For those who mentioned New Mexico, they have some more major issues with the football program.
