Tight ends...tight ends...tight ends. The safeties of opposing defenses are so concerned with Blythe and now Davis...our tight ends have plenty of room in the secondary to work. Plus, keep hitting the tight ends...the safties need to help out...then go over the top with Blythe/Davis/Sumrall/Flynn.

That and those draw plays for Meyer. They work very well and it's a great way to keep the defense honest.

Oh...and hit the tight ends.

I agree with the tight ends. Don't want to see anymore of the draw. Make it a QB Option Draw and I'd like it more.

Hicks getting the ball on first and goal from the 2 when he's the guy who carried the majority of the way down there. I know Kock is a guarantee 1 or 2 yards, but it seems unfair to let Stevie do all the work getting down there, and not getting anything to show for it.

If I had to say something other than the Meyer taking a knee play (in the 4th, not the second quarter) I would like to see us isolate Blythe with two recievers to the other side. This would make the it a fairly easy read to decide if there is double coverage to Blythe's side, and if not, chuck him the ball. If there is double coverage he has eaten up two defenders by himself, meaning that there is either single coverage of the other two recievers or only 7 guys in the box. If there is single coverage throw to that side and utilize some WR screens to Flynn (maybe even get creative and have Flynn throw the ball somewhere?) If there are only seven in the box we need to be able to run the ball for a respectable average.

It strikes me as a bit of a waste of a huge recieving threat in Blythe when he is on the same side as other recievers because it allows the defense to drop one fewer guy into coverage and still always have deep help on Blythe.

I realize this is more of an offensive gameplan vs a play, but this is something that could be done to effectively utilize our most potent offensive threat. It should especially apply in the redzone, where the Meyer to Blythe fade is going to be good for a TD the vast majority of the time there is single coverage, and should be given a chance far more often.

Life's not fair...when it's short yardage we need, I want to see the ball in Kock's hands not Hicks. If Hicks needs to be rewarded, then Kock can buy him a ice cream cone as a thank you for setting him up...:biggrin9gp:

The play I'd most like to see...

#1 has to be the before-mentioned Meyer taking a knee with :30 left in the game...

But how about...

The Quick Hitter. It's a running play off-tackle or off-guard where the handoff is instant and the hole is wide, the RB runs North-South and forces a safety to try and tackle him. It worked for Troy, Darren, and Ennis.

How about Brett Meyer wanting to stop the clock so he throws it to the sideline and hits coach Callahan in the nose ala Johnny Moxon in Varsity Blues. We then kick a field goal to go up 52-3 at half. We end up winning 55-53.

A Brent Curvy runback for as touchdown - hands down. I want to see how fast he runs this year in the open.

A Koch three yard touchdown blast right through Barry Cryer to put him on his back.

I would like to see Tuba return a 99 yard interception where he hits Zac Taylor so hard his head falls off.

Meyer standing back in a well protected pocket, looks off his first two receivers and hits the third choice for a 40+ gain.

I want to see Hicks off tackle. I want that every game, so I know I am never disappointed in this staff.

You talking about the wide open one he dropped in the bowl game against Miami, OH?

The one he scored in Ames against Nebraska that Bret threw high up into the air and he ran under to catch and ran away from the defender.

An Adam Carriker tipped pass that then bounces off the ref into Barkema's hands who plows ahead for twenty more yards to score.
