Where is this speculation coming from? I'm ok with BYU but Boise is not a good call.

Is waiting on Mizzou worth forgoing an opportunity to add other quality teams? It may be about time to push Mizzou one way or the other...

No. But we can't settle important issues without knowing if they are in or out. And would teams want to join if we haven't settled revenue issues? I don't think we can do anything until they commit or leave.

plus I think it is funny that it seems pinkel wants sec. He must not like coaching at mizzou because he wouldn't be there long with a string of losing seasons.

Hello mr. 4-8!

Love how he is reporting something while admitting he hasn't confirmed anything. THAT is a perfect example of how bad the "media" is with the realignment story. These reporters/commentators use twitter to break legimate news, pass along rumors, and throw out opinions with a very blurry line between each.

I really think anyone who tweets wrong info should lose a finger.

But I thought Slive just said THIS WEEK that the SEC was happy with the present 13 team alignment and was planning on making schedules for next year as a 13 team league.

You mean he was lying??? Couldn't be...

Isn't it bad that whenever the college presidents and commissioners of the US say something today, we automatically assume they are lying because all they do is lie and backstab each other...I'm just waiting for this statement to come out in a few years...

“The SEC presidents and chancellors met today and reaffirmed our satisfaction with the present 57 team institutional alignment,â€￾ Bernie Machen of Florida, the chairman of the SEC presidents, said. “We recognize, however, that future conditions may make it advantageous to expand the number of institutions in the league. We discussed criteria and process associated with expansion. No action was taken with respect to any institution including the University of Dubai."

Anybody remember this story?
SEC satisfied with current alignment, doesn't extend invite to Texas A&M - ESPN

That was in the Way-Back...6 weeks ago.

Ha! Didn't know the Tennessee AD who let the SEC expansion timetable leak has been on the job for less than a month! Bet he gets yelled at by $live!

Tennessee AD sees more expansion; Slive says ‘shaddup!’ | CollegeFootballTalk

New Tennessee athletic director Dave Hart hasn’t been on the job even a month, and already he’s probably causing his conference commissioner, Mike Slive, to spit out that whiskey he’s been sipping on his front porch while daydreaming about Texas A&M’s R. Bowen Loftin.

“I think a lot of the conversation is just where we go from here, obviously, because at some point 13 will not be the number,â€￾ Hart told The Associated Press. “There are a multitude of components to this that we have yet to really delve into. We will do that in relatively short order, but it’s very complex in nature.â€￾

The SEC not staying at 13 is the worse kept secret.

This probably has a 1% chance of being accurate, but this info from this West Virginia site is pretty specific...It's in two parts...

Ear to the Eers - SEC Update | September

The SEC has conditionally offered WVU. Those conditions are FSU saying no and:
1. WVU make a commitment to the SEC to compete at an SEC championship level. This means upgrading our facilities and raising our athletic expenditures to the 100-110 million range.
2. Upgrade football facility and expand stadium by 7-10K seats.
3. Build a new baseball complex/stadium.
4. Add sports like mens track and field.
WVU has submitted a plan to the Slive detailing how the above will be paid for. According to ***** the SEC held a vote that was 10-2 in WVU's favor.
The folks at WVU think that the SEC will stand pat for 2012 with 13 and add WVU if FSU says no.
Florida, for whatever reason, isn't so against FSU in the SEC as it was last week. The fear at WVU is political pressure from inside Florida.
According to the SEC the talks with FSU are heating up.
Our only hope is that FSU says no.

WVU Will Apply To SEC Monday - Unless Mizzou Wants In | September

My source tells me that WVU is expecting to formally apply for membership in the SEC on Monday.
Events took place yesterday as a result of my WVU post that confirmed to me the validity of my source. Let just say that a well placed individual from Morgantown called and was extremely interested in the source of my information.
What follows is a slightly edited email I received the morning.
A *************** member spoke to me the morning and verified that WVU had submitted a financial plan to the SEC and that WVU was (informally) voted on by SEC presidents. He didn't know the exact vote but it was in WVU's favor. He also confirmed that WVU's financial plan detailing how it would upgrade facilities and add SEC sports currently not offered at WVU was accepted.

WVU's offer was conditional on Mizzou staying in the B12.

Luck has been in contact with both the SEC and Missouri and both tell him that Missouri is staying the B12.

WVU is expected to formally withdraw from the BE this weekend and to formerly apply for SEC membership on Monday.

The SEC is likely to wait for Mizzou's BoC to meet and affirm their commitment to the B12. Soon thereafter WVU has been told the SEC will accept WVU's application and become the 14th member in the SEC.
