What about the parents? A number of these parents knew what happened years ago, if my child was molested i would have killed the SOB, case closed. A little tired of all the stones being casted at Joe Pa, did he do everything he could have? No.....but he wasn't the one in the shower with the kids. 50 years of doing good for young men and a community can't be forgotten so fast. Hindsight is always a lot clearer.

The parents definitely are responsible too. I guess they either too scared or willing to trade this for the prospect of playing for PSU program in the future.

If they lose that game at home, against Nebraska, with a bunch of drunk people around... I predict Happy Valley will get pretty ugly on Saturday night.

I'm not calling for JoePa to be burned at the stake; however, I DO think that his prior legacy of doing things "the right way" at PSU is toast.

But, when I considered your bolded point above, I consulted the "universal rule book" and.....SURPRISE....you're correct. The book tells me that 43 years of doing good for young men & a community is the point where your legacy is vested and cannot be overturned because of your enabling of a pedophile. So, as of 2004, JoePa's legacy is beyond reproach.

I will call it now, Jo Pa has coached his last game. To be honest, I don't understand why he and MM are not being charged legally.

OK. I have read all 19 pages of this thread and I am shocked that nobody has mentioned what seems obvious to me.....

I think that someone in the Penn State admin approached Sandusky about this long ago and he told them that not only would he deny it, but if it became public he would expose dirt on the univeristy - like detailed information about recruiting violations. Why else would they cover for this man for so many years and risk losing it all??

I'm sorry, but protecting children from a suspected pedophile versus getting outed on some potential recruiting violations that will get you in the NCAA "penalty box" is a no brainer. You protect the children. What is the worst that happens with NCAA rules violations, most likely probation, maybe give up some wins, give up some contact and scholarships, maybe a bowl ban, but in a few years, everything would be OK. An alleged pedophile running around a public campus is something that never should happen, as these predators have the potential to scar children for life. If this is what people at Penn State were worried about, shame on them and they all should be on the street looking for new jobs and facing charges if they broke any laws. The university comes first before football, and protecting children and students comes before any game played on the field or the court.

I agree. I think that the grand jury process was slowed down just to give him enough games to break the record. Penn State should have to forfeit all games since Sandusky became employed by the university and also should be stricken from Paterno's record.

Do you mean the coed in Iowa City and the Head Coach did not go to authorities right away as I remember when allegations were leveled. Maybe I am wrong on that but didn't Kirky go through the local chain of command and not the police.
Joe Pa pulled a KFC.

Heard the betting line for the Nebby PiS-U game was taken down on most sites (3.5 for Nebby) due to volatitlity outside the Joe Pa home yesterday. No one knows what will happen on senior day and whoi will be the coach.

I don't understand why this is a lesson people in power don't seem to learn. If Penn State had just went public the minute they knew something, it would have protected a number of children and been a momentary black eye for the university. It's the cover-up that's going to cause this to stick with Penn St. for a long time.

All of that seems so obvious to me that I really expect there to be another bombshell dropped before this is all said and done.

With the quick explosion of victims coming forward, there's no way this stops at 20. It's going to get a whole lot worse, I'm sure.

This is really disappointing and disgusting.

Unless I have seen something personally or REALLY trust the person telling me, I'm not sure I'd be comfortable calling in the police.

Which may well be what he says when he speaks but right now, Penn State is doing the worst damage control I've ever seen by not saying anything. And we know that legally he did everything he is supposed to. But when your moral inactions led to another dozen? 2 dozen? 100? other children being molested or raped....you should suffer consequences. And since those can't be legal consequences, you should lose your job. And that goes for everyone involved.

Penn State has botched this entire thing by keeping quiet, cancelling press conferences at the last minute, etc. And the President really shot himself in the foot by giving unconditional support from him and Penn State on Sunday and the ineptness has just continued. I give JoePa credit because it sounds like he wants to talk but can't.

Yeah, that will really help the families and their children involved in this mess.

Aren't there two ways to look at cancelling the press conference? Wouldn't that thing have just turned into a circus that didn't really help anybody?

Sure, the media guys are bothered by it, but that's their job they're upset about. They missed a chance at their feeding frenzy, so they complain about it.

I don't think Penn State is handling this well, but I don't see what that press conference would have accomplished, either.

No that doesn't help them, that's not the point. Other things will be done to help the victims, such as counseling, and big civil judgements against all parties involved. The wins are ill-gotten gains that should be erased in addition to all other penalties assessed and help given to the victims.

This is also a black eye for the prestigious Big Ten with P-S-U having the best record.

Nebby will also be on center stage looking a little ill from thiis type of pub. TO did not expect this.

Sad Valley will always be remembered for the Sandusky Abomination.

At the same time, Nebby also has a coach's vball player that is going into pre trial diversion so that she can play Saturday. The crime she committed should not be pre diversion of trial. It is suppose to go to trial.

That is a LOT of games. Does it include national championships shared with Nebby?
Yep, a lot of games. How about Penn State giving all victims, their spouses and children full ride scholarships as a way to help the victims and their families? Just a thought.

Probably already a part of their original hush money package.

I gained a lot of respect for Matt Millen this morning - he broke down on live TV talking about how disgusted he is with Penn State (and he played his college ball there!). You could just see in his eyes that he wanted to get extremely violent and personally dismember Sandusky.
