Maybe they should play him a little bit to see if he isn't good enough? If I was a coach I would just let him play some and if he really struggles then you know. Unless he is just totally struggling in practice.

If he is not playing in games, it's because of how he's doing in practice. Nothing else on which to base his lack of playing time.

Remember, it took Godfrey almost 1/2-way into the Big XII season last season before he started seeing significant minutes. Playing PG is a bit more complicated. Way too early to give up on him.

That's true if/when Sledge leaves his scholarship is already spoken for next year, but Railey if he doesn't get minutes this year might as well transfer... and I'm not sure what to think of Gibson at this point.

For Booker and Royce to start up front and compete in the Big 12 this year ISU needs a big off the bench that can spell them which Godfrey was capable of doing. If the staff doesn't have faith in Railey or Gibson to do it then they need to hit the juco ranks and find someone.

I think its more that if he wont play pass first at PG... he wont play. He cant shoot like Allen can and eventually will.
I wouldn't go that far....Allen is 6/21 from the field and 2 for 11 beyond the arc....I'm not a statistician but those are some pretty low percentages....

TOTALLY disagree... Big men who have Big 12 experience in the sophomore year is not really something that fall off of trees at Iowa State... We need to keep guys in this program for four years.

I heard a rumor a while back he was being subtly "encouraged" to move on but I didn't think much of it at the time.

I'm sure if Freddy thought he was good enough to play, he would play. No sense debating whether or not he should just throw him out there.

I agree.
I've always thought that a huge part of coaching is player development. Isn't that kind of the idea that coaches sell to these kids, that they will help the players develop?

One of the fun parts of college sports used to be that we watched the team develop and players improve (while winning, of course). We're really losing that. It shouldn't take fans a few weeks to figure out who the players are every season. Stability is a good thing.
