I think we'd plaster Iowa in a rematch. We have improved during the season, they have regressed.

The way the two teams are playing at this point in the season, I think ISU would be able to lock them down fairly easily on D and no is scared of that Iowa defense.

This. Our defense has gone from good to epic. Our offense is stable. Their offense is wobbly. Their defense is a shadow. That Nebraska team is garbage, and they drowned the Hawks.

As long as one of our normally sure-handed stars doesn't drop the ball 5 times, it should be a win.

But no player from the state of Iowa would ever do that in a bowl game, would he?

I don't agree that they've regressed. They started out subpar and have remained subpar throughout the season. With the exception of their win over an overrated Michigan team even the biggest hawk homer couldn't argue that any of their other wins are remotely impressive.

I don't like it. Can't you play in only 1 Super Bowl each year. To the Squawks wouldn't this be our 2nd Super Bowl of the year.

Wow.

Basically the same team that won the B12 North last year, right?

My god, get a grip.

I would have agreed with you, until the Nebraska game. If that wasn't regression, I don't know what is. But I agree: for the most part, I don't think Iowa has regressed. They are the same mediocre team that started this year.

Iowa State, however, is a better team than they were when the two faced each other.

Iowa would have a better shot against a team that isn't used to them. It would be fun to see them against A&M. I actually think they'd win that game.

Vandenberg plays awful away from Kinnick. We would play in Arizona. We would win. I'd rather see the Hawks beat A&M and we go to Ticket City.

until the Nebraska game

I would argue that losing to a dreadful Minn team is an even greater lowlight than their no-show against Nebby. If this hok team didn't play two preseason patsies and a conference schedule against the worst Big10 of my lifetime (33 yrs) we're looking at a 3-4 win team.

Iowa is a better team now than they were at ISU earlier this year too. It would be a good even game.

Wanna talk a lot without saying anything at all? Be a bowl PR representative.

On an Iowa-ISU return to Tempe:
"It’s not something that deters us from picking a team"

On Penn St.:
"that doesn’t necessarily mean that we will or won’t select them"

On Ohio St.:
"They’re definitely in the equation"

On the rest of the Big 12:
"it’s too early to speculate"
Have one of these flacks EVER just come out and said, "No...we're not going to invite them. Those teams suck."? At this point, even the Cotton Bowl rep would say nice things about ISU.

But there's no way Iowa and ISU end up in the same bowl. No. Flipping. Way.

But this woman can't just come out and SAY that. Hence this very enlightening article.

I'm really torn on this. I think I dont want to see it at the end of the day.
BUT, I have several very "entitled" and condescending Hok friends. They make me dislike Iowa more than I otherwise would.
To lose to ISU twice in the same year would really really burn their balls. More so than anything else I can imagine. And that sounds very appealing to me.

It's banter for banter's sake. I think most of us know this. Thanks, though...

Bowl games are different. Lots of time to prepare, and you spend a week at the bowl site usually before you even play the game. KF and staff are not bad coaches at all, they would have the Hawks ready to play us. I think ISU would be just as prepared. Its not that I think ISU would loose, but the fact that they CAN scares me.

Then why are they your friends? You need better friends.

If it were that easy, I would be on board with the rematch.

The success this season has been means too much to this coach and this team to let it be undone by losing a rematch. I don't think there is any way they would allow it to go down that way. I don't think you could say the same about Iowa.

And I do think we would gain from it if it happened and we won. It would definitively prove that, for at least one season, Iowa State went wire to wire as the best team in the state. That's nothing to sneeze at.

Newsflash: The 2011 season is being played in 2011. And, absolutely, this Nebraska team is worse than last year's team, which wasn't particularly good, divisional title notwithstanding. That team lost to Texas, A&M, and nearly to us, for pity's sake. This one got beat by Northwestern, nearly lost to Ohio State and didn't even stay in the building with a beatable Wisconsin!

If you were impressed by Nebraska this year, you haven't been watching them play for very long.
