Several sources have confirmed that Joe Paterno has died tonight, including Onward State and many local radio stations.

Regardless of the scandal at Penn State he was a heck of a coach and in some way should be remembered for that as well.

Agreed. Today we lost one of the legends of college football. I think we all expected him to go quickly after he quit coaching, but not this fast.

Well, I guess I'll provide some details that could debunk this as well:

8:57 pm EST, Dan McGinn, Paterno family spokesman indicates that reports about Paterno's death: "Absolutely not true."

I think we have our answer. CBSsports.com took down the article saying he is dead.

Definitely appears to be false at this moment. Now everything has turned into how reporters lose credibility and how social media has resulted in the demise of accurate journalism.

Sorry to have jumped on board, but hey how was I supposed to note that actual journalists (aka CBS) would spread rumors.
