Several sources have confirmed that Joe Paterno has died tonight, including Onward State and many local radio stations.

Regardless of the scandal at Penn State he was a heck of a coach and in some way should be remembered for that as well.

Could this thread be void of the scandal discussions? Let's keep this one for remembrance of the coach.

Agreed. Today we lost one of the legends of college football. I think we all expected him to go quickly after he quit coaching, but not this fast.

For the past ten years or so, whenever JoePa and his coaching longevity came up, I said he kept coaching because he would be dead within a year of retiring.

Well I'd rather see the truth... Still have conflicting reports, the main source of the quote from their family spokesman isn't the greatest either (I personally would say less reliable than the Onward State).

Definitely appears to be false at this moment. Now everything has turned into how reporters lose credibility and how social media has resulted in the demise of accurate journalism.

Sorry to have jumped on board, but hey how was I supposed to note that actual journalists (aka CBS) would spread rumors.
