Poor defense? Our guys were all over them and they weren't missing. That's not bad defense. Anything more aggressive and its nothing but free throws for them.

The way to win that game was to play better on the offensive end.

Also, how awful are the Baylor fans? They have a Top 10 team and can't get 4000 people in their. So ******* pathetic. There is no excuse that explains it.

Al, our guys gave up 11 dunks in the 2nd half alone. What game were you watching?

There's no doubt Fred has done a good job of bringing in talent, but so far I question his ability to institute GAMEPLANS that propel this team to victory.

Offensively we essentially do 2 things consistently: hoist up a bevy of threes and play isolation (ala NBA) offense, namely with Royce. The lack of screening or even pick and roll is galling and we run very few set plays. Without MULTIPLE guys who can consistently create offensively, an isolation offense simply won't work (enough) against the better teams. If Fred doesn't adapt, this team has little chance doing damage in the tournament. On any given day we can beat anyone, but this is NOT a brand of basketball that will win several games away from home (neutral site or road games).

Defensively we lack interior size; there's nothing we can do about that. We have enough athletes however, that we should be better than what we've shown. Our help-side rotational defense is usually **** poor, and we aren't very good at getting around or on top of screens. I was not able to watch this game, but recently teams have been picking Christopherson (Allen isn't any better really) to death, and without either effectively rotating or fighting through the screen we are getting killed and giving up layups. I'm kind of befuddled that we don't run a LOT more zone than what we as we have generally played our best defense when we've used it. It uses our perimeter quickness, makes it easier to double down on bigger post players, and it can help Royce play more aggressive D without the pitfalls of foul trouble.

What's weird is that until recently we had been very good at getting to the line. Aside from Royce, we have guys like Allen and especially McGee that can take it to the hole. Going forward I think we need to focus on getting easier shots by setting screens, exploiting Royce on the pick and roll, and emphasize getting to the rim. Shooting 50% of your shots from 3 point land is NOT the answer to winning on the road, nor will it work in the tournament. If Fred doesn't make some of these adjustments it will tell me all I need to know about his aptitude form being a head coach.

I've got an idea, no more posting for you. Are you kidding me? We are on our way to the NCAA tourney for the first time in a long time. He's doing something right, but wait maybe we should let you coach.

A lot of those came after the game was over.

I saw a big run where our guys were in position, playing as tight of defense as the rules allow, and watching every Baylor shot fall in. Maybe they could have disrupted the passes to the post more, but that's a borderline super human effort.

I saw a lot of possessions where we were in place, and contesting properly, but they just made the shot.

I also saw lots of missed shots and a team that struggled to score all game long. We missed a ton of shots in the paint, and didn't have a great outside game. We also did a horrid job of drawing contact and getting to the line.

You must get that doubt from the 18 wins.

The late, great John Wooden use to teach "be quick....but don't be in a hurry". Tonight........we were in a hurry.

That's all I need to know about your analysis.

Baylor's length is a killer. If Baylor is making its outside shots and midrange shots, they are very tough to beat. Not only were they hitting those last night, they were throwing in some slop shots too. Still as bad as we played and as well as they shot, I still thought we had a chance to win with about 6 minutes to go in the game. We would have been beaten by 30 last year. Not a bad loss, we are still in good shapefor the tourney.

Baylor was hot last night. They had just been stopped two game prior and had gut check home game and responded. They shot 73% in the 2nd half which is rediculious. ISU had a poor game on a short prep period with a bad match up. Perfect storm going against the clones down in Waco.

Take aways......

1. Melvin is as tough as anyone down on the block and is really moving well with out the ball and attacking the offensive glass despite being a bit undersized. He's a soph folks he is going to be one of the steadiest plays the next few seasons for the clones so get pumped. Candaian Stevie Johnson yeah!

2. I believe Scott works better without the ball than Allen. I believe Allen can still get his shots when initiating the offense but it come more diffricult for Scott. I also things Scott's movement is good for our perimiter game.

3. Gibson was 4-4 last night from the floor the kid is going to be good and I hope he gets some more minutes moving down there stretch. Wouldn't mind seeing Melvin work the small forward spot with Royce / Booker / Gibson pounding all night down low. I think Royce can be a terror at the high post position with his passing abilities and Gibson and Melvin's ability to finish near the hoop.

4. This game was good prep for the team on how tough tounry play will be with the short week and travel schedule. They learned if they do not focus and come out soft its going to tough to get that W. Look for dividends to be pay in KC for the Big 12 tourney and hopefully in March.

Go Clones!

We've won 4 out of the last 6 and just lost to a Top 10 team on the road. I think CFH and the team are doing pretty good at this juncture. I'd like to know how many people that are ******* and moaning had this game penciled in as a win on our schedule? I really liked the way Ejim worked for offensive rebounds, and was pleased with the minutes Gibson provided. Only hitting 8 3-ptrs was part of our downfall, and not converting second chance points. I don't like that ISU lost, as that would've really been a feather in their caps, but Baylor's back was against the wall and they protected their home court, much like we'll be expecting our guys to do. Probably should be some paragraphs in here somewhere.

Has our defense been exposed a little bit in the midrange game? OSU killed us from there, and Baylor opened us up with 15 footers before going all lob city on us. Some of the ones Baylor hit were fairly well contested, but some were very good looks. I understand that you can't take everything away and my guess is that we're probably ok with a lot of these guys taking 13-17 footers. When I saw Baylor start dropping those shots on us last night, my heart kinda sank. That shot is a lost art and I wish we were better at it. That's one good way to beat a zone if you move the ball well enough.

I didn't listen to the postgame but heard some of Fred's comments this morning. Our defensive effort was definitely lacking and that was the same thing that Fred pointed out. I will say, this is the first time I've been disappointed with our effort in a long time, and that it progress. Hopefully we learn from it and bounce back quickly. We've got some huge games coming up and we don't have time to dwell on this one. Baylor is a good to very good team with as much talent as we'll see all year. There is no shame in losing to them, but hopefully Fred and Co are ****** about the way we lost.

Has our defense been exposed a little bit in the midrange game?

Absolutely. We are pretty good at defending the perimeter and adequate at defending the post. Both OSU games and now the Baylor game the opponents have been on fire from the 15-17 foot range which like you said is not common anymore in hoops.
