Saw some shades of the early season ISU tonight and that is really disappointing.

This reminded me of the UNI game. Just not interested in general for 3/4 of the game, getting down and shades of coming back then doing stupid things to not get ahead, being out rebounded, guys on the other team beating us who shouldn't be beating us, etc.

Weird game. Texas completely took the three ball away. Ejim was beating everyone down the court, but we took him out of the game and brought in Palo for a 4 guard set. It seemed like the 4 guard set had no continuity and no one knew what to do. Chris Allen, who should be leading the team, was no where to be found.

This team has so much work to do in the next week if we are going to be competitive.

We have to face it boys we are NOT that good of a team....

Just like losing to drake high school when we dont hit our threes we cant beat a good high school team its just that simple....

Conclusion...Texas is a helluva lot better team than what we are and if we ever want to win another conf tournament crown we need a lot better players or else recruit some guards who travel and drive to the basket on every play....

Rick Barnes outcoached us something fierce....

Wow, I'm embarrassed for you.

They seemed to be playing arrogant, lazy, as if it were an exhibition game. Royce going up to Barnes and saying "you can't guard me!"

Anytime you blow an 11 point lead, you know it's not the opponent.

I love this board, it's my fn psychologist after games like these. Gonna go have a "calm down beer" and head to bed. Peace out.

p.s. I think we'll do something special in the tourney

I think we are pretty much a lock in the 8/9 matchup. Being a 10 isn't really much better. We would have our hands plenty full with a 2 seed.

Depends, who shows up? The good Clones, or the **** poor jerk offs that played tonight and at OSU? No 2 seed could be the good clones, no 9 seed could lose to the team that played tonight.

For any of you who have watched every game this year. You will understand exactly what happened tonight.

Rick Barnes set a game plan to get our guards in early trouble. Scottie was well guarded, and couldn't make early shots. Mcgee was guarding the wrong guy (matchup problems) and drew quick early fouls. You take Scottie and Mcgee out of the game, along with the luck of Royce starting off VERY slow- you have a shot to beat us.

Our response was pathetic tonight. We didn't have a game plan to punch them back. We punched back and were up by 11, but let them right back into it with terrible defense because of foul problems. Not a good showing at all. I've been watching ISU basketball games for 15+ years and tonight was just "one of those games" where you watch the beginning and you know it won't end well. Just a true cyclone telling it how it is.

You forgot to add being out rebounded. Missing from 3 point range is more acceptable when you're actually rebounding. Look at some of the Big East teams like UConn or Syracuse in the beginning of every year. There's one game they usually only win by 10 points over Albany or Loyola (MD) or something. They shoot terribly from 3, but rebound and that's why they win. Happens about once or twice a year.

I'm pretty certain most of the games we've lost this year...and most are by 10 points or less, are ones we were out rebounded in. We can shoot the ball, but not always.

We actually out rebounded them 36-34 on the game.

I hope this lose gets us a 10 seed or worse. I really don't want an 8 or 9

Thats funny because I was thinking the same thing btw frank martin over at kstate is hoping for an 11 seed after losing to baylor this afternoon, but they have the cats as a 8 seed also....

Ejim had four fouls at that point. Allen played a pretty good first half. They'll be fine next week...I think a lot of us were writing then into the second round way too early. Vegas did have Texas as a favorite in this game for a reason. We all just need to relax and wait and see what happens on Sunday.

You can move once the ball leaves your hand.

Not unless the rule changed - the players along the lane can move once its released, but as far as I am aware the free throw shooter can not cross the line until the ball touches the rim. In quick research, I know it is still the NBA rule and I don't have any reason to doubt it is the NCAA rule as well.

While the refs weren't the greatest, they had almost nothing to do with why we lost. Just a horrible effort tonight by our guys.

A prime example is down the stretch in our last several possessions. Royce launches a 3 pointer that barely touches rim, Royce turns it over at the top of the key, and Chris Allen dribbles off his foot out of bounds. Not going to win many games playing like that.

What is most frustrating to me though is that this team has gotten better and better as the season has gone on.... but we took a HUGE step backwards tonight IMO. We looked like the ISU team that lost to UNI and Drake tonight. That is VERY troublesome. This is not the time of year to be doing that.

We'll probably be an 8 or 9 seed now, instead of a 6 or 7, which is a huge deal. Going up against another 8 or 9 seed is going to be VERY tough for this team right now IMO.

I hope Fred can pull some magic out of his hat, because he'll need to. This team looks completely lost once again.
