Northwestern delivers roughly zero of the Chicago TV market. Minnesota is an afterthought in the MSP sports hierarchy. Yet, their conference leveraged its way onto television in those areas just because that's where the schools are -- not because of how many people are actually watching at any given time.

I won't claim to understand market reach, but I think if that is truly one of the factors in realignment, your example shows that it isn't entirely "interest," but "presence."

Big 12 has no eyes in Atlanta, but it could be a boost to the conference if GT fans liked the new league environment and (B) Big 12 school alumni in that area.

I would love Georgia Tech.

I thought they would be a good add as well at first. It seemed logical to give Clemson and FSU an additional close conference opponent. Then I went to their message board and it changed my mind. It's obvious they want nothing to do with the Big 12 even if the ACC sinks and they seem pretty douschey for no reason. Pass on Ga Tech. Their market isn't worth adding a team that is going to be a malcontent. I'd rather have Louisville than them because they clearly want to be in our league and have good teams and great facilities.

I was told today that Notre Dame has agreed to join the Big 12...Florida State, Clemson and GA Tech would also join the Big 12.

SEC would then take NC State and VA Tech.

Remaining ACC Schools would merge with Big East.

I should have been clear...my source just said that ND was going to the Big 12, and that FSU, Clemson and a third team (likely GA Tech) would follow.

The speculation about NC State and VA Tech is all from me...I don't know what the SEC does, but the ACC would be in trouble.

Let's say this is true (no idea how pie in the sky this all may be)...ACC loses FSU/Clem/GT/NCSt/VaTech to SEC and B12.

It makes sense they would add some Big East teams...but they're not gonna want this new monstrosity at all. I could see them making a football only deal with Boise State and Navy...but there is no way that Memphis, SDSU, Houston, and SMU would add any value to that.

Of the current Big East monster they would add UConn, Rutgers, and Louisville for sure if Louisville doesn't go Big 12. I don't know if they add USF if Miami is still in the ACC. Cincy and Memphis...good basketball but man I think those schools would grind UNC/Duke to add. Boise State/Navy maybe for football only if they're desperate to keep trying for football numbers. No way in H that SMU/Houston stay part of it as full members.

I think it's likely the block of UNC/Duke/Maryland reaches out to the Big Ten before they support Cincy/Memphis as additions. It's funny no matter what happens it remains an awesome basketball league with some of the "last options" being epic basketball schools.

To me, what is interesting, is what does the PAC do? The B1G, SEC, and BIG12 all have plenty of expansion options. However, the PAC, with the Big12 solidified, has no options.

I agree. Basically, the PAC's choices are BYU, Air Force, Boise St, and San Diego State honestly. That is unless, they want to go the Big East approach and steal from the ACC or Big East as well. However, if they even try to keep geographic sense, they're basically screwed. They do have teams like Hawaii or Nevada too, but I feel that might be reaching to just keep up with everyone else.

They won't take another California Team. Personally I think they will stay at 12 as long as they can. If they are forced to add they have 2 options.

Coast to Coast Style: 4 of ACC/Big East Leftovers: Syracuse, Rutgers, Maryland, BC, UConn, Pitt, Wake Forest...ect. This may work OK with the Pod System. Would be a nightmare having to travel through 3 timezones for these teams to play.

Stay Regional: UNLV/Nevada, BYU, Boise St, And maybe a Texas school

UNLV seems to have some potential to me for them. BYU definitely does, but there are religious and cultural problems there. Maybe the bring in Boise with expectations of academic improvements. If the other 3 conferences go to 16, they are going to have to as well, or risk being left behind.

Yeah, Boise Academics would cause some problems, but the PAC might need to get over that stigma. As we know academics don't mean crap in realignment.

I think those 3 are the most logical if they stay regional. The 4th team is the question mark. In my opinion going into texas would make the most sense for that 4th team.

I think maybe going East coast is the better idea though. Coast to Coast market share. Travel wasn't an issue with the Big East, so probably won't be with the PAC either.

I don't think the PAC would go east. A team like Hawaii with entrance into the PAC could be developed into a more valuable property than say a Louisville or UCONN.
