Yes, sorry. TV. I saw one photog who I assume is with Patch.

As soon as I wrote that, someone is here filming. I think it's Channel 5.

Dorsey-Walker and Ejim playing well for Coke. SDW looks much more confident now. Ejim drove right past Gibson for a nice Tomahawk dunk.

Non expert voices from the bleachers tonight as we watched the first 1.5 games

-Korrie L looked very good overall and we were impressed
-Bubu and Tyrus played their hearts out as usual. Tyrus has a couple of good blocks for a league not known for defense.
-Will and George played well

If they come together as a team, we are optimistic for 12-13 season.\

Carry on

I think most of everyone on here is expecting another NCAA Tourney trip next year.

In game 3, Gibson and McBeth played a lot of minutes for Capital Ortho, who won a close one 92-88 over Dorsey-Walker and Ejim's Coke team.

Ken:
I'm curious for your assessment. What do you think of the guys after watching them tonight?

Have you watched other CCL nights, too? (I've only watched one. This isn't to call you out, just looking for information). If yes, are you seeing some trends?

Thanks for your updates tonight!

Full stats from 7/8. Who says there's no defense in this league? Some good games tonight, highlighted by Niang's finishes, McGees blocks and leadership. And SW MN State's Nick Smith. Here's story and full stats. Tyrus McGee, Georges Niang and Patch.com 'Shut Down' Will Clyburn: YMCA Capital City League July 8 - West Des Moines, IA Patch

I don't know how you can start a story off with "We've heard there's not much defense played in the YMCA Capital City Basketball League." Then immediately follow that with, "That must come from people who haven't seen Iowa State's Tyrus McGee block a shot or Georges Niang finish at the hoop."

This is my fourth time watching this season, and I watched most of last season as well. I think it's difficult to take too much from these games, as the effort level of the players varies greatly from week to week (and sometimes from play to play). For example, there were plenty of times tonight where someone would play no defense on one possession and then be playing full tilt the next possession.

What I enjoy most about going is watching the newcomers who we haven't seen play a lot yet. Some of the things I've seen Clyburn do are incredible. Obviously you don't score around 70 points without a heck of a performance. Lucious has a real ability to take over when needed as well. Tonight's surprise for me was Dorsey-Walker, and how improved he looked compared to the first night he played. Real progress has been made with his confidence or comfort level. Unfortunately, I haven't seen Okoro play yet, and I missed his game tonight. Looking forward to Wednesday for that.

Watching these games is just pure fun, especially when stuck in the middle of the sports void that is July for a non-baseball fan.
