Some Hawk blogs are saying Gamblin might be coming to Iowa State with either an offer or as a walk on. He's 215 lb linebacker from West DM. Played in the prep bowl and looks like a hard hitter. Anyone hear anything?

it was reported a few weeks ago that we did offer and that he verballed, but then that story was retracted. if he does walkon, i think that would be great, but i would think he would get a few d1 sholly offers and that would be tough to pass up.

Hawk fans seem to think he'll be a Clone, but is that cause they think they can do better? Hopefully his character is a lil better than his former teammate in Jordan Bernstein.

I hope we don't have to watch walk-ons be our standout players. In D1 football you should have a star player that is a walk-on once every 5 years. i.e. Blyth...I think Chizk can see talent much better then DM could and I think he will get nothing but scholarship type players and not walk-ons.

I think your argument would have been better had you referred to a success story like Jordan Carstens - the only "great" ISU walk-on that I can think of.

For the record...Blythe was NOT a walk-on.

He signed with ISU with interest from Iowa, Wisconsin, and Kansas State.

Jordan Carstens, Lane Danielson, we can't count on walk-ons becoming superstars though.

We have really had a great walk-on program over they years. You can count on them to be good role players and occasionally turn into very good players. Nebraska's teams of the past had quite a few successful walk-ons that were key to getting them the title.

Don't forget Shaggy as a "star" walk-on.

Sorry could not resist. No recent posts about our kicking game.

Yea I guess you could call Robinson a "walk-on" since he walked back onto the team after leaving or being kicked off or whatever it was. But he is on scholarship again now and was recruited to be on scholarship!
