I have 4 tests next week and I have pledged to not have a sip of alcohol until 3:12 PM next Friday (It takes me 12 minutes to get home from my last class)... I don't know if I can do this.

I feel bad for her dad. He's a really cool guy, and there was the deposit for the location and caterer already paid, not to mention the dress.
didn't know how far into planning you were. That really sucks, A broken engagement is better than a divorce several years down the road when you might have kids, houses, and a lot more time involved. Obviously, I don't know either of you, but I'd have to imagine if she broke it off with money down and while actively planning, her gut has to be telling her this isn't right and it's not just some other dude or flightiness. I would hope.
Due to the distance, I will not be receiving it back until Thanksgiving.

Store credit on #2's ring down the road. Either hold it for that or sell it online. Pawn shop is a terrible idea IMHO.

I accepted a job at a different company earlier this week. I don't even have a start date there yet, but am having a hard time being productive now.
On the bright side, I was asked to go down to Clearwater, FL next week for some meetings. It will likely be a very fun trip.

Clearwater is one of my favorite beaches down here.. make sure you bring the sticks, soooo many good golf courses around there
