The offer is in Boone, otherwise I'd be in DSM or WDSM. How long is the drive from WDSM to Boone?

Depends on trafic(this is from west Ames). Good days 45-50 minutes. That means all greens no tractors/slow sr.citizens on the road. Average 60 minutes. bad days 1-1.5 hours. It is very hit or miss if the interstate through the urbandale/clive area will be at a stand still, on average i would say one day every two weeks. To me it was not worth it. I began to hate the drive.

You have to be an awful driver for it to take 25 minutes to get from anywhere in Ames to any other location in Ames. I can get from Perfect Games to the mall in 10 minutes most of the time. If I hit every light between the two it might take 15. It never takes more than 10 minutes to get from my girlfriend's place in Somerset to get to Hickory Park.

Think I'd rather drive to DSM from Boone/Ames when I want rather than have to every day. Thanks for the advice.

Maybe he was pedaling as the driver.

The one that does push 20-25 min is getting from close to the country club to the Hunziker Sports Complex just south of 30 east of Duff. When you have kids in sports like softball/baseball/soccer that drive stinks on Saturday mornings.

I live in Marshalltown and as long as you dont live on the North side of town its fine here. Not a lot to do but more than Boone.

Personally, I don't think that it's really even debatable what to do. Buy a place in west Ames and commute to Boone. Yeah, housing prices are a little more in Ames and taxes are a little more in Ames. But you're living in AMES and not Boone or MTown. Lots more to do, the schools are better and the commute is still something that most people would kill for.
