Re: 3rd string QB

Did it last year and worked for a few games. Barnett had no experience. I say give it a try. Cant have a running game without a threat of some kind of passing game.

Re: 3rd string QB

I don't put this all on JB either. ISU runs empty backfields with no misdirection, no gadget nothing to loosen up the KSU defense. The recievers did a poor job of route running, and we throw all sorts of passes around the field and then when it's third down we decide we had better get 10 yards for the first down.....they should have concentrated on getting the first down FIRST.

I blame this on the offensive coordinators that seem to have imagination but unwilling to use it for some reason when we really need a first down. The KSU defense was allowed to play straight up...besides for a few flat passes we used no misdirection, no motion.

Re: We need to find a QB

We're a long way away from that kind of talk.
Perhaps. Barnett looked good against a good defense then poor against a better team. But I doubt Rhoads goes with Richardson to start his first game on the road in what is a winnable game.

Barnett needs to make some better throws but for the most part he took care of the ball. He's definitely an issue but you can also point to: Complete lack of a run game. Absolutely nothing here, Barnett's not that great of passer, have to get something here for him to be successful. Defense inability to stop Klein. They improved late but for awhile there he was consistently rolling off 6+ yard runs allowing for some very long drive.

I bet we wish we had that 49 seconds left in the first half.....after halftime they said that ISU told them it was the BEST option they had at the time. If kneeling on the ball is considered your best option...then our offense has issues.

Barnett was bad but the recievers weren't helping him out. They alternated between bad throws and bad drops.

Yep, the entire passing game didn't look like a Big12 unit. There's the difference in the game. I can't believe that the defense play for 42 minutes.

Barnett was simply awful in the final 20 minutes - something like 3 for 15 passing. That's just flat out not good enough to beat anyone much less KSU. I credit KSU but there were guys open and balls bouncing off hands and fingers. Passing game was inadequate.

Completely agree. Barnett looked bad, especially when the game was on the line, but the receivers did not help him out today.

If we are giving someone other than SJ or JB then maybe I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to it. I've seen all of SJ that I ever need to see at ISU though.

Run game does look anemic. But I suspect that is a direct result of defenses challenging our pass game to beat them. Beat them we did vs tcu but nothing going today

Running game problems anyone? Nope...fans blame the QB yet again.

Running game has issues for sure, but when you can't complete a 10 yard, wide open pass, there isn't much reason to commit anyone to the pass. Our run game is keyed on by everyone we play. The pass game is an afterthought.

Re: 3rd string QB

Yes I do. Cant get any worse with no offense!

No offense is better than giving their offense the ball.
Incomplete passes are better than interceptions.

Hence...Barnett over Jantz.

One exception: The last 2 drives, there was no 'play to not lose'...then you might as well put Jantz in. His upside is higher, his downside is lower, in that situation it doesn't matter.
