The quarterback didn't have anything to do with our running game and no holes. Our whole offense is off. The line not creating holes, the running backs fumbling the ball, the receivers dropping passes and bad throws and decision by quarterback and offensive coordinator not effective in play calling.

Is this at least worth a shot yet?

Playing a young QB, with no experience, against big 12 competion, with this offensive line is irresponsbile. Would be a disaster. My opinion

I say it's worth a shot...at the very least we get him some experience and see what he can do

Yep, because 6-7 three and out's is working out great right now. To be honest, I think whoever earns the spot, they get a shot to march the team. If we punt, insert #2. If we punt, insert #3. The way our QB's played, would Richardson really be worse? I just can't imagine.

I think knowing that JB and SJ can win games is most infuriating, given the resent W/L ratio. Like others here on FB I'm not sure what's going on, but I'm looking forward to our next game. CPR has us in the right direction.

Doesn't that fact that Rhoads has said Richardson is the clear number three scare anybody? Maybe I wouldn't mind seeing him though. It gets kind of boring watching the same people repeatedly fail. Might be kind of fun to watch new players fail.

On a realistic note, I think that if we rated the players performance, relative to their positions, our quarterbacks would be about in the middle of the pack of our offensive starters. Quarterbacks rely on EVERY player in the offense to do their job in order to succeed. When multiple players fail at their job on a given play repeatedly, the quarterback is going to look much worse than he actually is.

These "start (insert name here) as qb" is getting old really quick.

Absent any semblance of a running game, ANY QB on our roster that we put in will struggle to get 1st downs.

Leads us back to Jantz to be honest. His turnovers could beat us before anything, but he is more of a pass threat than Barnett is. I wish Jantz could run the spread option like Barnett though. Actually, I bet it would be best to just run a 2 qb system each game until one has the hot hand and just role with them.

Our offense is a mess and the play calling is so inconsistent. We cannot sustain drives at all hardly and when we score its within three minutes. If you are going to score that quickly then you have to do it all the time (hence Oregon) to win. Our defense is on the field WAY TO MUCH to which they get gassed.

Our offensive coordinator scripted a nice first drive, but when Okie St. defense adjusted he totally blowed at calling the right plays. Our O line is not gelling together very well and not doing there job either. We do not have a ******* QB to save our collective butts either and for some reason yesterday receivers dropped some balls. I will say this Messingham is not a D1 coordinator and our O line coach sucks as well those two need to be shown the door. Coach Rhoads is to blame as well this is his staff and his team, but he is not getting any help from those two coaches. Should Todd Sturdy start calling the plays since well he was a D1 coordinator before at WSU? He has a lot more experience than Messingham. At this point about the QB position its a freaking crap shoot.

The biggest problem with playing or starting Sam is that the entire offense has to be changed. Sam is NOT a runner. The current offensive scheme would have to be totally ditched. Can Mess or anyone else do that in a week? Yes, us old timers remember that Oklahoma made the switch to the wishbone in one week and ran it very successfully.

Had the same thought, if Sam can't even get mop-up duty ... that's not good.

At least we know it's not the o-line because Bleil said it's the best group he's ever had. <sarcasm>

If that's the case, that Richardson can't run the offense we run, then we're in HUGE trouble. It looked to me like Sam ran a similar offense to ours on his HS videos though?

If Sam isn't a "runner", then just get rid of this zone read BS anyway then. I'm sick of it. Why can't we run a combination of shotgun and under center stuff? A ton of teams I watch play every Saturday do it.

Okay, I agree with the assessment that our O-line play is the biggest issue with the offense. However, the most frustrating thing is when there is an easy, open throw to be made and the QB just flat out misses (the short screen to Johnson v KState, that play just short of a first down to Tiller, Jantz's 2 consecutive swing passes to Nealy just off the top of my head). Our offense is not doing well and if we don't at least get the gimmees, we have no shot at all. just so frustrating...

There isn't a chance in hell that we can run under center with this line. It would calapse before he could even get squared up. Last year it could have worked, but someone misses a key block every play. Watch the OSU game again, they is someone getting through almost every single play. And OSU hasn't gotten penetration on anyone all season which worries me even more.
