I strongly debated throwing up Legend, but shied away due to the compilation thing.

FWIW, Rolling Stone included it in their Top 500 of all-time, and it really probably is THE definitive Greatest Hits album.

For sure, it's great. This and "Chronicle: Vol. 1" by CCR are the two that come to my mind.

Dr. Dre - The Chronic
Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground & Nico

A global mod listing "The Chronic" seems, well, ironic or at least confusing. And as Rodney Dangerfield said to Eddie Murphy after telling him "he didn't think blue material would go over" and saw him about a year after that said, "Hey, who knew?"

If there is any album that should be considered as an exception to your compilation rule, I think it's Legend. Bob Marley's albums are excellent but contain more tracks that are roots reggae and generally not as enjoyable to those who aren't reggae enthusiasts. Legend brought great reggae to the masses without getting all UB40-ish to do so. I respect you guys being purists but Legend remains on my list. This is coming from a guy who still owns 1411 vinyl albums, and only one of which is a compilation; Legend.

I was going to put Jay-Z's "The Black Album" up there, too... but Dre got the edge.

I saw The Who at Hilton when they were all alive back in the '80's, just like Queen and Kansas. They were good. Were you too young to see them then?

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Keith Moon died in late '78, didn't he? Did you see them with Kenny? Not sure that counts!

I don't know anything about that. Rap has no electric guitar. Give me Jimi Hendrix, Marley or Living Colour ("Cult of Personality") over all of that.

Boxer is outstanding from start to finish. I might have to listen to it again right now.

"Slow Show" is one of my favorite songs ever. Does Matt sound vaguely like Springsteen to you?

That's a BASS guitar you're hearing...that other stuff does not even count as guitar playing imo.

The beastie boys had some guitar and a few others. Just not my bag man.

Yeah LW plays the bass but there is a couple electrics in songs... i was just :jimlad: 'ing you anyway

I agree with the whole rock > rap thing
