I didn't know, or at least I had forgotten until now, that Spanier is an ISU alum.

Yes, rescind it with all available speed. Don't have to make a big deal about it, as others have written, but do it soon.

Rescind away...

Rules to live by:
1. Don't put up statues of people that are still alive.
2. Don't let child molesters shower in your locker room with 12 year olds.

edit: whoops, forgetting the "n't" changes the meaning quite a bit.

Remove his name from everything related to Iowa State University. I don't want him being attached to ISU other than to say this award was rescinded.

They'll notice it when he goes to trial, and people start googling his name and this thread is the first thing that comes up.

If you think the first thing coming up about Spanier is his ISU ties, you're NUTS :biglaugh:

That being said, just as well rescind it, though. :realmad:

I don't know about you, but if I google the name, right there at the top on the right is his smiling face with a picture from "isualum.org" and "Education: ..... Iowa State University". Crazy like a fox.

yes, should be rescinded. Don't need to tout that connection.

No need for fanfare, as others have said. just do it and move on.

Yep, I remember when the banner was taken down. One day I was walking on the sidewalk that runs north/south just to the west of Beardshear and noticed that there was a different banner there. No fanfare or anything.

THIS.
Graham B. Spanier, the former president of Penn State, was charged Thursday with helping to cover up the child abuse allegations involving Jerry Sandusky that have roiled the university and its famed football program over the past year.

Very sad, former alum.

"This was not a mistake by these men, this was not an oversight," said state Attorney General Linda Kelly. "It was not misjudgment on their part. This was a conspiracy of silence by top officials to actively conceal the truth."

get any mention outta ISU immediately
