Ha ha, did anyone hear John or Eric say "KL really needs to work on the cross-court pass" during the break?
Davies is a good scorer (especially with so much help from the refs), but we have several players who are stronger re-bounders than he is. If he worked on that part of his game, he would be extremely good.
What difference does it make who is our best player? The last thing you do in a team sport is rate your players best to worst. That completely obliterates the whole notion of role players. Why even consider being a role player if everyone is rating you best or worst?
Are you watching the same game as me? Sometimes people go blind when they expect to see already set preconceptions.
That was what I was thinking the whole game, did they get a search committee together and fine these fine upstanding refs in a Mormon church. I think if you can believe the book of Morman, you might be able to believe some of their calls.
I would like to know where these refs came from, if they came from BYU's conference, it is no wonder Clyburn wanted to get out of there. This was not a good team, the whole game they had two extra players on the court at least. It was 7-5. All the BYU players had to do is fall down and they would call a foul on our interior players. None of the fouls they called on Booker were fouls. I have never seen anything so pathetic, and on our home court.
I hope everyone forgives my anger at the refs. I do get worked up like that sometimes. It takes me about an hour to cool down.
Mitten1975 I agree with most of your points, but when you said BYU is not a good team I have to disagree. You will see BYU in the NCAA Tournament in March I promise you that! Iowa State could have probably knocked off most of the ranked teams today with that performance and I don't think there would be many that would argue with that...
Strong possibility for BYU in the tournament.
Fairly hefty slate in non-conference — FSU, @Baylor, Notre Dame, (counting ISU, too). In-conference, Gonzaga twice, SMC twice.
Knock off VT/BU, split Zag & St. Mary's, avoid bad losses, BYU is near-lock. A lot left to do, but good share of chances.
All big12 teams have huge gaps right now. They are exploitable. The conference is not out of control strong this year. When the leading candidate for POY is the stick in the middle of Kansas, it says something.

Disagreements are what make these boards interesting. I would not forgive you for agreeing complacently when you disagree in actuality. I actually think my real problem was that I don't like BYU. It is the religion, no offense to anyone on this board. I have a long history, I was probably the most vehement fan in attendance today.

Noone in the Big 12 is that scary. Kansas is default top dogs and are pretty beatable.
Solid win. This is a good BYU team that lights up teams who man for man aren't bigger and more talented. They obviously couldn't beat ND and FSU who are pretty similar overall to the Unlv and Cinci teams ISU lost to last week but have blown out everyone else they played. For example I believe this BYU team would have gone into Carver today and embarrassed the Hoks by 20 points.
If this team doesn't lose again until conference play an at large bid should be 100% expected by everyone involved in ISU hoops. As long as this team has the correct mentality to protect their home court in conference play and only drop one or two conference home games (I think this team should defend Hilton well) they'll go into the Big 12 tournament with only 5-8 losses and a bid secured.
The second best Big 12 team after KU is either WVA (underwhelming so far) Baylor, KSU, Ok St, or ISU. TT, UT, TCU, OU strait up suck. There are no games on the schedule that I would chalk up as automatic losses.

Nobody has made this Captain Obvious post about our NCAA tournament chances, so I'll do it: I think it would help a lot to win a game in the conference tournament. Even 2-3 games. Even the whole thing.
Like SyracuseCyclone, I think we'll have it wrapped up before the conference tournament, but I'd sure like to see a couple of quality wins there to keep padding the resume.

I understand. How long have you followed Men's Cyclone Basketball? Are you just as passionate for every game? Or just more so this game, because of your beliefs..
Based off of what I am seeing right now, there really isn't a Big 12 team that is just dominant! I guess, you probably could make an argument for Kansas. Oklahoma State is a solid team, despite losing to a very UNDERRATED Virginia Tech team. Lon Kruger's Oklahoma team will surprise people too. Baylor will obviously be at the top of the conference as well. I look for West Virginia not to meet expectations this year. I don't think Texas Tech will be a great team, but I wouldn't be surprised if they pull off upsets in conference play. And Texas Christian will be absolutely horrible. That sums things up. I am a very passionate Iowa State basketball fan. I graduated in 79 but really became interested in the Johnny Orr era. This game was worse because of the opponent. That story goes way back to before I became a big basketball fan and lived some years in Brazil. It is funny because what set me off just recently has been resurfacing in the news in Russia. Strange how history repeats itself.
