I'm not talking about Wimberly leaving. My question was back on topic before the weird derail. Curious why Wimberly's tweets about Wells were pulled.

Football staff probably told him to quit airing dirty laundry on social media, it happens all the time. Or they told him to take it down until an official announcement is made.

Personally i don't think it's a big deal that he took them down.

I was looking at our coaches bio's and noticed Bliel has coached TE's in the past. I know CPR is tight with Bliel and do not see him being fired. Maybe he could be moved over to TE's and then CPR could go get someone like Loney. Just a thought.

I know Loney has minimal interest in coming back to the college game.

He is already enrolled. At this point he would be considered a transfer and would probably have to sit a year if he went with Wells. And why would he even do that?

I think that Wimberly still has a redshirt year left, in which case he would be way more likely to be willing to sit out a year.

If that is the job he left for, than I would think he probably left on his own.

I'm kind of surprised that people are questioning that he left on his own. For one thing we know his brother has the Utah State job, it has been speculated for a while that is where he is going, and in my mind it is a loss because although we can now hire John Gruden to replace him Wells is a top recruiter.

We already have a topnotch experienced OC from a major power conference on staff that put up nearly top 10 offensive snaps in Todd Sturdy. CPr grabbed him at the last minute after Leach was hired.

My guess is he came in with the promise of the OC gig but it was too late in the process to make the official switch. Knowing absolutely NOTHING, I predict Mess picks up a few position groups and we see Sturdy elevated to OC in the coming weeks. I hope.

Are you predicting Sturdy takes QB's then? Mess as QB coach surprised me way more than him taking over as OC simply because he has no previous experience coaching QB's from what I've seen.

Not sure about all the speculation, but, i can tell you that i did see someone is out there i would love to have on our staff. Rumors are floating in the Rag that Erik Campbell fro EIU is no longer on staff...

Not sure if you know him or not, but, he is a very good WR coach who has also coached the TE at iowa...furthermore, he is a great recruiter and currently has two prized recruits possibly re-opening their recruitment with his release. He developed McNutt and DJK (in football at least). If Wells is gone, this would be a great get for our staff.

Uh, yeah, Soup would work. Michigan and Texas recruiting. I'd take him.

.....very interesting. Looking at the coach's bio's, one thing that jumps out at me about Mess is that he has never coached at a D1 level prior to ISU. May be a good position coach, but not an OC at this level (yet). But Sturdy has that experience (not a lot, but some) at this level. If he was going to promote from within, I would agree, he would be the guy. Very interesting, SponkaneCY......

I am pretty sure he wasn't coaching a position and was more an operations guy but I saw that Pat Burnham was not retained at South Florida by the new coach. I wonder if that would be an option for somehwere on the staff.
