Super excited to watch him play this weekend. Making the trip to watch him and Vaughn. He is going to start next year. I don't see anybody else beating him out.

“I finally found my stroke,” said Thomas, who’s averaging 29.8 points per game.

Some slump!

What I almost find more encouraging than his "sharp -shooting" skills is that almost every article I read talks about his ability to drive to the basket and create from there. It's awesome to have a great 3-point threat (Jake Sullivan anyone?), but to have a kid who can both shoot and create off the dribble will make us that much more difficult to guard. Really excited to see how Matt develops as a all-around player donning the Cardinal & Gold!

I am going to head up to La Crosse and watch the game vs Aquinas (UW recruit Bronson Koenig) on the 31st. Should be a good matchup as Aquinas got the upper hand in the first meeting.

not to derail the thread but Jake could drive too. made more 2's than 3's in his career.

thomas has a great all around game. he's routinely double-teamed and can put the ball behind his back/through his legs and drive with both ways. has a great pull up jumper due to his high release. he won't have quite the sized advantage in college, but remember matt is 6'4" 190 - he's pretty strong.

i think one of the reasons matt has "struggled" with his shooting is he's taking very tough shots, being guarded by 2-3 kids who's athletic highlight of their lives will be guarding matt thomas. koenig will be a good match-up, that kid is tough.

Jake Sullivan did a lot more than just hit 3s. He was forced in many situations to play out of his comfort zone. He was a fantastic player for ISU all around.

I was at the game mentioned in the article. Looked like he jammed his thumb or something early in the game, because he was constantly grabbing at it, shaking it. Kept passing the ball instead of driving it, only dribbling with his left hand, etc. Then he went off in the second quarter. Easily could have gone for well over 40 if that hadn't happened.

Hopefully his ankles hold up better than Sullivan. Jake was good but hobbled by ankle injuries. He could drive pretty well beforehand. The year we had him run the point was a LONG year.

Koenig must have been off when he was down here at the Well because I saw probably 1/4 of the 3rd quarter and all of the fourth and he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. He was pressing though because they were down.

Thomas is going to be a sharp shooter...and Fred is going to let him unload anytime he would like. Can't wait to watch him shoot for the Clones. Matt will be a playmaker even as a true freshman...unless Vaughn ends up signing on with us.

Long, Thomas, Dorsey-Walker, Ejim, Niang starting five next year?

Two FR, two SO, and just one SR? Yes please.

Heck, have Morris come in off the bench to add another FR in the lineup

Shooters generally have weak ankles.
