First, i dont think its all CA's fault. I think with so much sustained losing, the student section is having to relearn what big games are all about. We didnt have much of any during the mcdermott era, and the phrase 'hilton tragic' was used by the daily during the morgan era for a reason. Its already been noticeable how things are better this year than last, and i predict next year will be even more so.

That said, CA has room for improvement. I think they went too far on the no shirt thing, i think they should still require a red shirt for some uniformity (i think before it was just a bit much requiring it be a *specific* shirt. They should do more like of that FAC thing they did for one game earlier, if they recognize getting some alcohol into the student section is unofficially a great idea. And i would get rid of the committee reserving itself seats. If you want to do things that you think will help the student section, great, but i dont think its been good giving them automatic first row access for it.

This. CAC should be the loudest, craziest people out there. Lead by example. I'm tired of seeing CAC members standing with their arms crossed.

The perfect example of this is the Baylor game last week. The crowd was really loud and the cyclones were on a run, then Scott Drew calls a timeout and instead of having CAC people pumping up the student section trying to keep the noise going, they were among the first to sit down.

If CAC really are the diehards they claim to be, I challenge them to stand for the ENTIRE game against TCU. Whether down by 20 (please god no) or up by 30. Prove that you're at least trying to better the atmosphere.

I am not really opposed to them saving the seats for themselves, and themselves only... They usually have stuff to do before the game including handing out the rewards for other students. Of course I don't really want to sit in the front row. I like where I am at for most games.

Agreed. It was tough to be able to wear the same shirt twice in a single week to home games (for those of us that care about hygiene). I wasn't about to pay for laundry just to wear a single shirt.

That's really the entire arena though, not just the student section.

You can't blame old people though. Because they're old.

But if the old people don't cheer enough... and the young people don't cheer loud enough... what about the in between people? Oh wait, they are up in the rafters and can't been seen cheering so they don't count either.

I wonder how many other student sections in the nation are under parental supervision like ours is? I bet we are the only one.

The whole thing that no one gets is that the organization existing, whether they are moderating or not, stifles chaos. Also, the phones. Put your ******* phone away while the game is going on.

That's a societal problem. Not an Iowa State basketball problem.

I was really excited to come to ISU basketball games as a student for many reasons:
i grew up watching when GA was so loud
i grew up watching the GA/CA. You really wished that the opposing team had to shoot free throws on the GA side all game.
I went to Ankeny. The "student section" during the regular season is beyond awful, and people only show up to the state tournament games to get out of school. It's basically like a big social gathering.

So I get here and am really disappointed. It might be 2 or 3 steps up from Ankeny.

I think we should start a Cyclone Fanatic Alley. That should come with first class seats at Hilton for all CF posters. Since this was my idea, my own seat should be court side- a leather recliner next to the ISU bench.
And I should also be given a senior position in the Athletic Department.

All this is for the good of ISU basketball, of course.
