1) 2001 vs. Kansas. I think we were ranked #7 and KU was #6. That game was the reason for the voucher system as students camped on the steps of Hilton (some built fires) the night before. I got in line around 7am (it was an afternoon game) and just barely made it into the last row in the arena circle. I've never seen anything like it.

2) 2004 vs. Texas. Probably the single loudest moment I've heard Hilton in when Boddiker went to the line.

1992 vs. OSU like a couple have said. Was behind the basket ten rows on the side Alexander was shooting FTs at the end. I don't think the younger generation understands how loud it was that game. It was incredible.

OSU in '92. My honorable mention games are:
WBB versus Texas in 1999. Taylor hits a turn around, nearly half court 3 pointer to win 71-68
Texas in 2000. The famous Fizer dunk.
WBB versus #1/2 Texas Tech in '04. 64-63. Electric.

and yes I know this is a men's thread...just puttin' the word out! :)

When we beat #2 Minnesota (w/ Randy Brewer) back in the early 80s. We were down by 6 pts with 26 secs left (before the 3-pt shot) and missed a shot for the win with 3 seconds left. Went on to win it in OT. That game always comes to mind when we are losing by a couple possessions with under a minute to play. I always think we've still got a chance.

2000 Texas, Fizer over Mihm....I remember i was in the front row of the upper deck and the place erupted and for a moment I thought, "hope this place doesn't crumble from the craziness!"

Okie State in '92 as well. Was my freshman year of college and from that game forward total love of cyclone basketball.

2004 Texas has my vote. I remember rushing the court that game, and not even realizing I was doing it. Hard to explain but the student section was going absolutely nuts, and once the game ended, it was like a wave of people hitting the court.

Off the grid
While this isn't the best game I've been to, it is one of the best performances I've seen. Brackins going off against Kansas was awesome. We lost but he couldn't miss.

Went through the McDoormat era in college, so the best I have attended in person was the Baylor game last year. Place was nuts. Scotty kissing the floor was one of the best sports moments I have been apart of (after 11/18/11). Went out afterwards and Thug Lyfe was laying the Mack on the ladies. And by laying the mack I mean following over smashed and trying to go in to the ladies room after the ladies. Playa, Playa, Playa.

I think it was Orr's 1983-84 season or possibly 84-85. Iowa came to Ames for MBB game in early January. I remember buying three tickets to the game; 1 for me and one each for 2 of my brothers for their Xmas gifts. Game went into OT and Ron Harris fouled out in OT. Iowa had Paine and Stokes (twin towers) but somehow the 'clones pulled it out in the end for the first win over the Hawks in quite some time. It might even have been double overtime. Iowa had most of their games on TV then and their announcer at the time, ??? Hoague, had a catch phrase when a Hawk Player made a notable play, "Oh My!" Well, walking out of Hilton south we passed under the concrete overpass where my voice echoed loudly I gave a hearty "OH MY!" for the mixed crowd as we exited. Lot's of big laughs from the Cyclone faithful and a few dejected looks from the others.

Four games:

1. the Lafester game against Iowa -- 1987
2. beating KU with Danny Manning later that season (1987-88)
3. 1992, beating Minnesota at Williams Arena -- Thigpen put back his own miss for the win. We got the ball back after Minny's inbound pass hit the scoreboard.
4. After a 20+ year hiatus from Hilton Coliseum, my first game back was last year against Baylor. Just like old times.

Lafester game if we are talking Hilton. Victory over Michigan in the NCAA at the Hump Dome would be my second choice, I think that was in 1986.

We beat a ranked Missouri in OT back in the early 80s, when Barry Stevens made his 40th(?) point at the top of the key with a tick on the clock.

Beat me to it. These are my top two as well.

Would give honorable mention to the floor shakin' Okie State game, the Iowa game Hoiberg's freshman year when he dunked over Acie Earl, and the Nebraska game in '01 that clinched back to back conference titles (wasn't dramatic but the accomplishment sure was!).

And any time we beat KU feels great!

2004 had two really good games. One was Texas; the other was Iowa (who we played in January that year) and that was the game where John Neal became a legend. Those games were important because ISU was coming off such a bad year (LE fired, Pete passed away, Ennis Haywood and Dexter Green passed away, the worst football season we've ever had in 2003).

But, I still loved the Fizer dunking over Mihm game. In addition to being a great game, that game proved to me that we were going to win the conference title. I wasn't sure that I'd ever see that up until that point.

Some of you guys are talking about games before I was born. As a 23 year old tyke, it has to be Baylor last year. Front row and the scotty kiss just can't be beat.

My favorite game outside of Hilton was the 2000 NCAA Tournament game against UCLA. Talking heads said we couldn't keep up with them and they'd run us out of the gym, and that's exactly what WE did to them!!

Go Cyclones!!
