1.) He does? McGee shot 49% on 3-pointers at CC in 2010-11.
2.) A nice way of saying poor shot selection?

You're right I forgot that McGee had 49% that's my bad. I'm sure he takes some bad shots and he likely won't be as good as McGee but I think he will be a big asset off the bench!

KJ is also shoots 10.3 of their 21.8 three pt shots attempts per game. Then another kid shoots 6.2 attempts per game. KJ is shooting a ton of shots and is their leading scorer, which probably means that most opposing teams base their defense around him. It's probably hard for him to get many open looks. I'm sure the majority of his 3 pt attempts are contested. Considering all of that 38.3% isn't that bad. When he is at Iowa State he will be around a lot more shooters which will take the focus off of him, which in turn will increase his shooting percentage from 3 pt range.

Tyrus might be a better player than KJ, but still I think KJ being around more shooters will benefit him a lot.

Your defense of his shooting % being that much lower than McGee's is that he takes so many contested shots? Ouch.
Clearly you never watched McGee when he was in JuCo (or even while at ISU). It is doubtful KJ is taking that many more bad shots, and if he is that is a concern imo.

BTW McGee shot 43% of Cowley's 3P attempts in 200-11 compared to KJ's 47%.

I guarantee you McGee had more than one other guy on his juco team that could shoot the 3. And he obviously has a ton more players on his teams at Iowa State that can shoot 3's. So not ouch.

Bluford doesn't play on that good of a team so therefore his coach probably tells him to shoot more shots that aren't good shots, and that along with the fact that they have him and only one other guy that shoot 3's are the reason for his lower shooting percentage than McGee. Playing on a better team with better players increases shooting percentages for good shooters. McGee's sophomore season they were 25-8. Bluford's team was 14-11 at one point this season. Since he has been at Iowa State McGee plays with a ton of 3 pt shooters that spread the floor and give him better looks than Bluford gets. I would almost guarantee ya Hoiberg spaces the floor better than KJ Blufords Juco coach. Also McGee isn't the primary focus for defenses at Iowa State like I'm sure Bluford on his juco team.

Don't bother. It's a waste of time.

That's my bad. I shouldn't have said he will be one of our better scorers next year. I had no idea it would start an argument. Haha

While mcgee may not be the other teams primary focus defensively, I cant imagine opposing coaches dont spend plenty of time in practice making sure mcgee doesnt get open looks from outside....Not that it matters, it seems like he is just as good with a hand in his face. I dont know how many times i yell "NO, NO, NO, YESSSSS!" when Mcgee has the ball. That 1 on 4 fast break against TCU where he took it to the rack was one of the worst basketball decisions ive ever seen.

Sorry to get back on topic, but I forgot how many teams we beat out to get SDW. He had offers from MN, FSU, Michigan, Baylor, and Indiana. Nice to be able to get and redshirt a top 125 guy like that. We will be young next year, but I still think we will have a solid backcourt, and still hit a ton of 3's

Just tweeted hes nearly 200lbs. Put on 25 lbs so far. Very nice!

Good to hear, I actually think he may see more playing time next season than Long and Okoro. Nothing against those two guys, but I think SDW is the bigger offensive threat and I see him stepping into the role Will Clyburn had this year.

Hoiberg certainly seemed excited about him with his comment in the CourtCyd show a few weeks back...

I really believe that he will be one of our leading scorers. Leading scorers:
1. Niang
2. Ejim
3. Thomas
4. SDW
5. Bluford

No Morris on your list, huh? Are you thinking he's going to mainly be an assist guy vs. a scorer?

Also, on SDW, after our first exhibition game this year, I was most excited about SDW. I thought he looked really good. VERY fast with the ball, good shot, and just very smooth. I was really looking forward to him playing this year, but a RS year is even better for him IMO.

But yes, I think SDW will be a very good player for us. I also see him getting more minutes than both Long and Okoro.
