I know Matt D was complaining last night about Ejim not using 2 hands, but is anybody else impressed with his ability to catch the ball this year. The last 2 years I would call him stone hands, the way everything seemed to bounce off. Now I would say he has really good hands. The way he rebounds and catches passes has really impressed me. Might be my imagination, but he seems more athletic also. Numerous ally oops. Really impressed how far he has come.

I keep thinking he might get in a little trouble on his lean in screens at mid court. Looks like he is trying to get somebodys attention at times. Definately got a tough edge to him.

I am impressed with Niang and Ejim's hands and old guy tatics down low. They are not the tallest guys in the world but they finish around the rim. I don't think people understand how hard it is at 6-6 and 6-9ish to score around the hoop with an athletic 7-1 down low.

He had a great game DESPITE his hands. The guy is a monster, a max-effort kind of guy. That doesn't mean he has good hands - he doesn't. He does have other redeeming qualities.

Put Percy or Georges hands on Ejim, and he's got 2 less TOs/ game, and 4 more points/ game.

having Royce throw zingers at him all the time has to help develope ones awareness

Exactly. He may have only been hitting .300 off of RWs 95 MPH heat, but everything else looks like a hanging curveball now!

Is it crazy of me to think he used one hand cause he was still sort of sealing off the defender with the other one?

Still not jumping on the bashing melvin's hands bandwagon.

Man if Shaq only had a sweet jumper he would have scored more points.

You mean you used your eyes to acquire information that is relevant to forming an opinion? lol.

This discussion also reminds me of this classic:

Way up there
He's definitely improved that part of his game, last year he struggled catching the ball and even had a few dunks/layups he blew because he lost the ball on his way up. Whatever he did between now and then worked. It could just be a case of the game slowing down for a guy who has become a veteran player. Melvin was no slouch last year but he disappeared at times, this year he seems locked in every night. His effort was always there, it seems the rest of his game has come around. I'm excited to see how this year plays out, but he could be a very special player next year, which I think he'll need to be with all the new faces we'll have on the court with him next year.

He'd be averaging .1 TO/game, in almost 30 minutes? :nah:

(he has 54 in 26 games, if he cut it by 2/game, he'd have 2 on the season)

I spent several minutes just watching Ejim work last night - I didn't follow the ball, just kept watching Ejim work on both offense & defense. That guy works so hard - he's always moving and battling to get better position or push his guy off the block. He is relentless when boxing out and rebounding. Ejim was already one of my favorite Cyclones of all time, but after paying close attention to how he plays at all times, I am that much more pumped that he is a Cyclone and so impressed with how "big" he plays.

He obviously worked on his game a lot during the past off-season and it's showing up big time in games.

Hes improved immensely, but he still fumbles a lot of passes. He's always been very athletic, but I think he's now realizing that he's a lot stronger then his opponents and he's going for more athletic plays and not being as conservative. However, he had probably 2-3 turnovers in the lane because he didn't handle the pass
