Do ISU fans have a problem with MU?

I really disliked Mizzou for leaving when it imperiled the Big 12. Now that the conference is strong and it is obvious that Mizzou is a horrible fit in the SEC, I don't really care about MU. Just an example of the consequences of poorly considered actions.

I am upset with Mizzou a lot, but I understand it. I wish they had stayed, but I understand them leaving. If we had to continually deal with the KU bs they did, we would want to leave too.

What I hate most is how Nebraska and Missouri dumped all tradition and senses of loyalty to their former Big 8 rivals. Iowa state is now on a geographic island in the Big 12 with no bordering states. That is not something I will forget or forgive easily. I don't hold it against individual Missouri fans as I honestly think most would have rather stayed, I do blame the institutions and greedy presidents and ADs. Nebraska on the other hand, I hope the whole state of Nebraska suffers forever for their greed. May their teams be as mediocre as their University is. If Missouri wanted back, I would gladly take them with about a 50 year grant of rights. Definitely bush league chanting SEC at the Big 12 tourney, Big 12 fans were universally pleased with Missouri's crash and burn in the dance last year as a result.

Spot on!

Since Mizzou left I've really become an Iowa St fan for Big 12 games. I like Fred Hoiberg and think his loyalty to his hometown and home school is an impressive thing that you have to root for. I went to see Iowa St play in Lawrence this year and the people in my section knew I was rooting for you guys.

I took my wife downtown today for lunch and to spend some time at the Big 12 tournament festivities. We're both Mizzou fans and with Mizzou playing today we had Mizzou shirts on. We saw quite a few Mizzou fans there. We had friendly conversations with fans of most schools but the Iowa St fans were the only ones who were rude to us. Explaining I was rooting for them did nothing. I knew kU was hated by you guys but was surprised to see me and my wife treated like a rival would be treated. Is there a big thing between you guys and us that I didn't realize? And again good luck tonight!!

You wore mizzou shirts to the Big 12 Tournament this year? And expected to be welcomed with open arms by everyone? The sec has their own tournament. Go there.

This. Can't believe the Mizzou garb I saw down here, don't they have another conf. Tourney to be at?

I hate to say this, because it would mean a lot more travel for folks, but the Big 12 Tournament may need to be moved to Dallas or Oklahoma City. It surely doesn't need to be in KC anymore where it gets polluted by mizery fans.

I've only seen a handful of Mizzou fans in and around P&L. I did enjoy seeing one almost flip his bar table over in anger when they blew their game against Ole Miss last night! I love that the tourney this year (which should stay in KC) drew record attendance without Mizzou.

No it doesn't. Deal with Mizzou fans, they aren't any worse than KU fans. The tournament needs to stay in KC. Look at last night when the 3 "local" teams played at the same session.

I puke a little in the back of my throat when I see people at work wear Mizzou shirts, then I realize that they can't spell and it makes me feel better.

To the OP, I was really indifferent about MOO when we played them, but thought the games were always pretty good. Was disappointed that they would throw away tradition for whatever they got, still not sure what they feel was better about going to the SEC. SEC chants and wearing SEC shirts at the Big XII tourney was probably the last straw.

You'd be in favor of moving the tourney due to a few dozen toothless people? Seems extreme. They'll quit coming as soon as they realize their team isn't involved any more.

One of the reasons it is in KC is to shove it right in Mizzou's face, and Bowlsby was not afraid to admit that on the air last night between the two games.

Graduated for ISU, lived in Missouri from '97 to '03 and use to root for them when they played NU in football and KU in basketball. My oldest son was born in Columbia at Boone Co Hospital and we have attended MU football and basketball games. With that said, all that Goodwill went out the door when they left for the SEC. I have enjoyed watching Mizzou get kicked around in the SEC, even though that makes the Big 12 look bad, oh well, AM is doing well.

I understand that it's cool to be in a new conference and play new teams, but I think the rest of the considers Mizzou to be the ODD MAN OUT. I really don't think they take them very serious.

I'm late to the party here, however I absolutely hate Mizzou and love seeing them falter in the SEC for the following reasons:

1) Mizzou caused the conference instability by flirting with the Big 10, which then the Big 10 picked Nebraska, damaging our conference.
2) Mizzou left the Big 12 for the SEC, due to "conference instability," which they created.
3) We then had to listen to Mizzou tools/trolls explain to us over the months justifying the move and how terrible our conference is. Heck, many times they stated about not wanting to travel to Ames. (Which is even more interesting considering the fanbase doesn't travel well.)
4) Mizzou then had the arrogance to try to shame KU for not continuing games vs each other and "throwing away tradition." Never mind they're the ones who created the mess and they're the ones who left and threw away 100 years of tradition.
5) Mizzou fans chanting, "SEC SEC SEC" at the Big 12 tournament.
6) The conference instability caused by Mizzou, which almost collapsed the Big 12 due to Mizzou, had the very real possibility that ISU could be an orphan or in a lesser conference.
7) I also hated Norm Stewart.

Overall, I was disappointed Nebby left, but understood it. I didn't care about Colorado. I was glad Tammy left. I hated Mizzou's actions and consider them unforgivable.

Ive hated Mizzou basketball for as long as I can remember. Started with Norm...

I can relate to this. I was a high school senior and in Hilton the night Steve Stipanovich "bonked" Lefty Moore, prompting Johnny to rush the court. Missouri was always my least favorite Big 8 / Big XII school and their leaving the conference created a void for me, in that I loved ISU / Missouri contests in a way that ISU / TCU will never fill.

Having said this, the only reason I opened this thread was curiosity as to why ISU fans would have a problem with Marquette University. I assumed it had something to do with the recruiting of Vander Blue and couldn't believe it'd grown to 3+ pages. As of 2013, MU = Marquette for me!!!

Of all the schools that left, Missouri made the least sense. Colorado to PAC12, fine. I can see that. Nebby and ATM butthurt over Texas. Fine. And they landed in conferences that make sense. What did Missouri have to be unhappy with? Instability? They caused it by trying to leave the first time. And the SEC? You slavers finally got your chance to join the old confederate south. Have fun with that. SEC SEC. Go **** yourself. Mizzou is dead to most of us.

Yes, I would be in favor of moving it out of Missouri. The Big 12 should have nothing to do with that state any more. Missouri "sec"eded from the Big 12, with no thought or care of how it would affect any of the other schools. It is a slap in our face to still hold our tournament there. If the SEC wants to hold their tourney in Missouri, fine.

I think we're not fans of Pinkel but have nothing against Mizzou hoops outside of memories of Big 8/Big 12 rivalry. A lot of us think Mizzou forced it with the SEC after being jilted by the Big Ten where they truly would have been a fit in a more stable conference. We like wrestling and obviously the SEC is not wrestling, we see Mizzou playing at a completely empty conference basketball tournament and connect the dots that it's not a perfect fit.

I think we connect in that we truly understand the nature of Big 12 hoops being fixed for KU and a shared dislike for them.
