They'll total it. Prepare to be lowballed on the value of your car.

Not necessarily. Hard to tell from the pic, but it looks mostly like sheet metal damage. Even if the suspension needs to be replaced they might not total it for that. If he damaged the frame, though, then yeah, that puppy is toast.

They'll screw you over, no matter what. In 2007, my 2001 Malibu was the victim of a hit and run at night in my apartment parking lot. Someone (never caught them) hit 3 cars, my car had the worst damage. Basically the entire back end was totaled. Anyway, I was in the market for a new car so I was hoping they would total it out. The estimate came in at $1800, so I fixed it. Turns out the repairs cost $3500, which I was not told of until I picked up the car. The $3500 would have totaled it out. So I would have been screwed when I traded my car in. Luckily, I sold the car to my parents for my sisters, so it worked out.

Frame looked good when I looked at it, but 1) Im not a car junkie, and 2) Its hard to tell with the way my built.

It also depends on how much it costs to replace those airbags. I'm not sure how much it would cost in an '04 Chrysler, but that usually isn't cheap.

I would be worried about damage to all the internal important parts up front.

But that is only due to my experience with NASCAR. Radiators, man, radiators.

There was a lot of fluid at the scene, but I think it was from the other car. My car is in great condition compared to the other car. My car is/was a tank. Power steering pump is apparently gone though.

Meh. Who needs power steering?

My gf and I left Ames Friday to head home for spring break. We made a stop in Marshalltown to get some food at the Subway in WalMart. I pulled out of the parking lot to head back to Highway 30, and pulled out right in front of another car.

They hit me right in front of the drivers side front tire, airbags deployed. No major injuries, gf did go to the hospital cuz she said her head felt weird. The other two in the other car were fine. Everyone is okay, just a little sore. Both cars might be totaled, but my parents think my car is fixable.

My insurance does have full coverage.

Im just curious as what to expect from here on now. How much willl my rates go up? For how long? Anything else I need to watch out for?

sorry to hear this. Glad no one is seriously hurt.

This happened with my first car. Something blew out in the engine (can't remember what it was). Car shop told us $2000 for the repair or we could sell it as scrap for $200. Parents decided it wasn't worth the repair so we sold it at $200. Couple months later saw a classmate driving it around town..... :skeptical:
