You know we had Babb for two years and Marcus was a one and done rocket. Without Babb, we probably would not have made it to the NCAA either year. His defense helped us win some Hilton games along the way. OSU may have made the dance without Smart as they have several players who are IMO under utilized.

...is this a 1st? I can't really say I remember the last time that happened (if ever) Well, we'll all find out at 5pm (CST) on CBS.
No clue, but I would have to imagine that it probably is. Pretty incredible especially with all of the talented athletes down there.
I have a cousin that used to work for CBS in the video 'master control room' (for CBS Sports) He said the 1st thing they do when they set up the brackets (this was about 8 years ago mind you) is the #1 seeds, THEN immediately the 13 championship teams from the smaller conferences usually fill in the #13 -#16 automatic qualifiers... The major conf. champions are more than likely already ranked and will follow the "system of selection" (whatever that may be) beginning with the #2 seeds and moving on down the line.
He also told me that naming the teams wasn't as difficult as placing them. Meaning, the most difficult portion of the brackets is placing the team in an area where they hope to make the most ticket sales. Sometimes it's just totally unavoidable. I hope we can stay in the mid-west! Especially, with no Texas schools going this year. (unless Baylor gets a gift from the committee.)

Seems mathematically improbable.
Plus, quite a few conferences are represented — you'd think at least an auto-bid would come through.

The SEC collapsed like I thought in their conference tournament. Ole Miss though proved me wrong. Don't see them winning the SEC, but they get in. Middle Tennessee was helped the most by all the bubble losses. They are the regular season champion of the Sun Belt by over 5 games. La Salle has no bad losses, and good wins. Just not a lot of them, but they have not done anything wrong. St. Mary's is another team blessed by the bubble mess. They do not have a strong profile, but no bad losses, and finished with a stellar record. The First Four games will be fun to watch.

Which is why I always laugh when people talk about how accurate Lunardi is; they simply look at the teams he puts in and compare it to the teams who actually get it. Its very easy to get the the 68 teams in the tourney right, its much harder to get them seeded right.
I don't think he did. I would not be surprised if we see a surprise inclusion, like Southern Mississippi.
On March 10 of last year (day before selection Sunday) he had them in the first four out.

There is always one surprise that the analyst throw a fit about afterwards. Southern miss is fun to watch I would love to see them get in over a marginal bcs school. Is anybody talking about la tech or Stephen f Austin? I could see those two being surprise additions as well.
