Your first mistake in Marshalltown was going to Subway instead of Sub City. It literally has the best subs I have ever eaten. They slice the meat and cheese directly onto your sub. Cannot be beat.

According to KBB a 2004 Concorde is only worth about $3,100. Judging by the picture I would guess at least $2,500 to repair it. I had a similar accident with my 2006 Colorado 3 years ago and I think it was about $2,600 to repair it and it was all cosmetic.
My guess is they total it. Sorry I can't help you out on the insurance.

I used to have this car but 2002. I bought it in 2007 for 5k and had a similar accident to yours in 2008 and they said it was totalled. Rates went up slightly when I bought a new car but I got a $ 7,900 from the insurance company so still came out alright.

Parents are still convinced that it is fixable, I dont believe it, but we will see tomorrow hopefully.

Yea...Is it fixable? Yes. Can it be fixed for less than the replacement value that will be the insurances 'total' limit? No way. Insurance will offer you about $3,000 and move on.

Sorry about your accident but glad everybody is OK. My 16 yo son totaled our SUV last year (he lost control on an icy road and hit a UPS truck) and here's what happened to us;

He was not cited by police so it didn't raise our rates but we did lose one of the discounts he was getting for having completed a safe driving course.

We get one accident forgiveness but with our insurance the accident follows the car not the driver and you can switch the accident free "history" from one car to another. Accidents raise our rates for three years (DH had three accidents in one year, that raised his rates a lot).

The airbags were deployed and the expense of replacing those really pushed up the cost of damage. Our insurance company was very generous with their replacement cost although we could have opted to have had it fixed.

I know it all seems really bad right now but it could have been much, much worse. All you are really out right now is some money and some pride. It is just a car.

If they can "total" your car, that would be the best way to go. Actual value of your car probably will go down because of your accident. I am sure you won't get as much of $$ if you try to sell your car after repair. Mind as well have them total it and take the cash and buy a new car.

Technically I don't think anybody is "at fault" when an accident occurs in a parking lot. I could be wrong though.

Untrue - someone has to pay for it. In my case the two insurance companies waged war to determine what percentage the each of us were at fault. I was backing out of a parking space when I got hit. I was backed 90% out, about to put my car into drive when a truck plowed into the back of me. He admitted to the cop, repeatedly, who came to write up an accident report that it was his fault because he wasn't looking (playing with radio or something). A week later when my insurance company interviewed him he said it again it while they were taping him. Good thing too - because the person backing out is considered to be at fault. But, all it won me is that the two insurance companies agreed that I was 80% at fault and he was 20% at fault. My car needed a new back bumper and he had a scratch on his bumper right beside his stinking squakeye license plates. Grrrrrrrrrr.

Rarely do I ever pull into a parking spot nose in - I'm the person that is perpetually backed in Dukes of Hazard style. I get sweaty palms if I come out of a store and find a big truck or Suburban or minivan parked beside me, blocking my view.

Be prepared for your car to be 'totaled'. Especially with airbag deployment.

I was hit by a piece of debris earlier this winter which did cosmetic damage on both doors on the drivers side. $1200 bucks for scratches and a minor dent.

First off, (not saying you did) never admit guilt at the scene of an accident. Let the police report decide. If there were no citations issued, it will be up to the respective insurance companies to figure out who, if anyone was at fault... if you need to cover the other vehicle's damages.

Will your rates go up? Ask your insurance company when you file your claim. Based on what I've read here, I'd be prepared for them to.

My gf and I left Ames Friday to head home for spring break. We made a stop in Marshalltown to get some food at the Subway in WalMart. I pulled out of the parking lot to head back to Highway 30, and pulled out right in front of another car.

They hit me right in front of the drivers side front tire, airbags deployed. No major injuries, gf did go to the hospital cuz she said her head felt weird. The other two in the other car were fine. Everyone is okay, just a little sore. Both cars might be totaled, but my parents think my car is fixable.

My insurance does have full coverage.

Im just curious as what to expect from here on now. How much willl my rates go up? For how long? Anything else I need to watch out for?

apparently other cars.
