I'm so excited! Watching games at el Azteca is just insane. I read somewhere that they expect between 500-1000 USA fans. So, ya know, only 104,000 battery, beer, and urine-bag throwing fanatical mexicans that value this game more than we do the super bowl. I can't imagine what it'd be like to be a visiting player stepping out into that. I do agree with shagcarpetjesus, if we can keep it even until half the crowd may turn on their own guys though, and with their somewhat permeable back line we could be in good position to get a point or 3.
In all the interviews and things I've heard the Klinnsy and the players all say they don't plan on playing defensively and I think that is the best way to keep the game close. El Tri thrive on possession and if we can hold the ball well for stretches of time then we can get them on their heels. Watching them blow the lead against Honduras was very encouraging as well. We, of all people, know well how good Honduras is but that was a pretty major choke-job. I'm hoping that Edu gets the start in Jones' place and is tasked primarily with containing Dos Santos. The wings and obviously Chicharito are where the danger comes from but Dos Santos is huge in opening space for others and making dangerous runs. Edu has the speed and the bite to slow him down IMO. My other big concern is dealing with the speed of Chicharito if we stick with Gonzo and Goodson in the back. They both played great in Denver (as best I could tell haha) but neither are speedsters. Cameron could be returning to the middle or Edu could move back but then I don't know who you put in at CDM. Beckerman?
Hopefully it is a good one. Any points would make me feel very good going forward
