think he's just a jr?

Yeah, I think we just have so many great seniors that the spots were filled before they got to juniors. Because from the outside you would think that SR or Farniok would be a good choice.

And KVP is an interesting choice as a punter. Must be a solid teammate to get the not at that position.

Brun was probably the biggest surprise. Sounds like a good group though. Look forward to see them take the field for the coin flip this season.

Kirby is the best player on our football team this year by a mile. There was no way he got left off unless the whole team hated him.

Don't get me wrong, he is a total stud. But I doubt a high percentage of teams have their punters as team captains. Says a lot about him that he is on the list for that reason.

And I think when it's all said and done, Kirby could have the longest pro career of any ISU player ever. I would imagine Matt Blair and Sage as a couple of the leaders now, Seneca getting close.
KO probably has the most talent but that's a demanding position.

Classification doesn't matter. It's still very interesting that the guy that has anchored your OL now going on 3 straight seasons is not captain. How many starts has he missed since becoming the starter? Any other guy on the offense been more consistent than Farniok?

Surprised by Woody, Brun, and Kirby. Maybe not as much about Woody since he went to Big 12 media day.

Out of curiosity why Woody?

Yeah I don't understand how anyone could be surprised by Woody. He has had the attitude of a captain from DAY 1. Listen to any and all interviews he has done. Talk about Clone to the Bone.

Someone could never step foot on the field and still be a better leader/captain than a 4 year starter. From what I've seen of this group, they will be great leaders.

I'm not shocked at all by Woody's inclusion. He's a senior former walk-on and went to Big 12 media days this year.

It's tough to describe, but he's just looked like a captain the past year. If you watch the sideline he's always talking to guys and making his presence known. Seems to me to be more of an emotional leader of the team than on the field. Much like Brett Bueker was last year when he was named captain.

No doubt Woody is a great kid, great interview, and clone to the bone. He deserves it but not in my top 5. IMHO, I would have rather seen Farniok. Especially with the excitement the board has about Klenakis....one of his boys should have made it and Farniok is who he'll lean on. He makes all of the protection calls for OL and other than the QB, touches the ball every play. It would bother and worry me as a fan that the punter and 3rd or 4th RB made captain over an OL that has started every snap. Especially with the role he has and a young QB. No big 12 contender will have the type of captains we have outside of JG, James, and JW.

Aren't the team captains voted on by the team? If so, perhaps that speaks to Woody's character and stance with the other plays. It isn't a 'slight' to Farniok, he just didn't have as many votes as the other guys.
