O I forgot, my senior trip was a cruise with 12 of my buddies.

One of the first nights there, we stumbled into a bar and they were doing a karaoke contest. I drunkenly get up there and sing "Build Me Up Buttercup," well apparently I was entertaining enough to make the cruise ship Idol final. Come the last night of the cruise (after a day in Cozumel), and I am told to be in the theater which seats 1,000 or so.

The crowd was nearly half full and I was drunk and lost my voice. I tried to muscle through the song (keep in mind I am an awful singer, I just got the whole crowd involved the first time around). I literally got booed off the stage because I was so bad.

I finished 8th out of 8 though, so that was nice.

Top Ten, baby!

My husband was a geography bee dude, too, and it's AMAZING having him on road trips. I have no sense of direction or ability to retain geographical landmarks, so I know that it's a huge help! I just get to proofread a lot of stuff.

Just because it's above your level doesn't mean you have to mock it.

For real. Floppy is the ****. I was bummed we didn't get to the State Fair this year to see the booth.
For as much saliva that puppet got on his nose, he probably carried every childhood disease known to man.

I was on the show once, but didn't get to tell a joke. :( Saw Floppy several times at fairs and stuff other than that, though!

I was on the show Restaurant Impossible as one of the diners.

I was in the Lansing newspaper holding a 2x4 next to some people smashing out the windows of a cop car. They were vandalising b/c they had just won the Ncaa basketball tourney. I was remodeling local landmarks out of hatred for the screw job we got in the Elite 8 game we last to them. Luckily you cant see my face very well, the people smashing the cop car were turned in by people.

Pics or GTFO. That is kinda cool. I will put that show on in the background sometimes. It is HORRIBLY staged.

I got a few likes and positive rep on here once for posting some uniform designs. My life has never been the same since.

My senior year of HS we made the state baseball tournament. It was the first time ever for our school to make the summer event. I pitched the opening game and threw a shut-out against the 2nd seeded team. The next day the Ames Tribune had a huge write up about my pitching with a sweet picture of me with the moon over my head. They interviewed the other team, my team, and coaches. Pretty sweet. We got beat in the semi-finals a few days later and when I opened up the paper on the front section of the sports page is a huge picture of me holding the trophy hugging my girlfriend. I had know idea they took the picture.
Those are my claims to fame.

When I was 16, I got to visit the Final Four in Seattle with a friend of my mother's.
In the airport, his son and I saw **** Vitale, and headed over for an autograph, interrupting him before he got to the bathroom. To this day, it is the only time that I have seen that man not want to talk.

I was a member of the Cyclone marching band in the late 80s (one of the most dismal eras of ISU football). Since our band received greater applause than the FB team, does that qualify as famous?

The Wall Street Journal picked up a regional Asian carp story that had me quoted in it so I tell people I was quoted in the WSJ.

Several references to photographs in this thread. Share them or, as you know, "it didn't happen!" You are among friends here a CF, we wouldn't use these photos to embarass you or spread them all over the internet (well, maybe not).

Twenty years ago I delivered a baby in a portable outhouse at an antique tractor show in Ankeny. They named the baby John. The mom claimed to not know she was pregnant. Whotv13 interviewed me on camera, WHO radio did an on air interview. It made the State by State Iowa segment in USA Today.

There's a whole lot of stereotype validation in that post right there. I mean, 4good, not you, but the doting mother.

Yep. It was kind of surreal. They were selling John Deere parts, and he was born in a port-a-john so what else could they name him?

I once had a US Senator ask my advice and I believe he took it.

Don't worry. It was regarding wildlife at a ranch he owned.

When I was in high school, the news was doing a story at the Carroll Muni Golf Course and they did an interview with me. It actually aired in the evening news. Had a couple people notice me afterwards but that's about it.
